That depends entirely on your insurance. Medicare requires a 13 month rent to own (capped rental). Various insurances require anywhere from 3 months to 10 or even 13 months. You would have to call your insurance company and ask.

Yep, definitely ask. I just heard from my DME that it's 13 months for me for my new machine coming next week. I can't recall what it was now for my first machine, but it seemed like it was about a year then too. I have avmed though, and I know even avmed has a bunch of different types of coverage/plans.

Call up your insurance to find out since it varies based upon each insurance's own plan.

For example, Medicare rents it for 13 months and it becomes yours in month 14 (as long as you passed the first 3 month trial period). A few other outright purchase it from the get-go and then the rest do a rent-to-own for the most part with most of the rent-to-owns being 10, 13 or 15 month rentals for the most part.

There is a small group of hybrids that will pay for it as a rental and then it can convert to purchase in month 3 if the compliance report looks good.

sorry - didn't check the replies before posting and see that Judy answered it. As far as BCBS, the NY BCBS is one of the hybrids - rental for 3 months and then submit compliance report to convert to purchase. Call your local one on the back of your card and they should give you a quick answer.
