On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. It took me less than a minute to sign up to require our congressmen and senators to drink at the same trough! Three cheers for Congressman John Fleming of Louisiana! Congressman John Fleming ( Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment that would require congressmen and senators to take the same healthcare plan they force on us (under proposed legislation they are curiously exempt). Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go on his Website and sign his petition (very simple - just first, last and email). I have immediately done just that at:

> Please urge as many people as you can to do the same! If Congress forces this on the American people, the Congressmen should have to accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families. To do otherwise is the height of hypocrisy!

Thanks Rock.

Have voted -- I agree with you.
Thank you. This was actually emailed to me by my dad.
Amen! As things are looking now the middle class, mostly the middle and lower middle class, will be financing the cost of adding/providing health care insurance to the currently un- and under-insured (not much different than is occurring now).
Ha! Just went to the site to sign the petition, so to speak, and first and last name are not required, the only required field is your e-mail address. And right now, the site is overwhelmed w/"visitors" according to a message page that popped up.
Ahhh! My "vote" has gone thru. I've signed up. (Of course, those rascals still have that "congressional doctor's office" access for free. I didn't see anything about eliminating or charging for that.
What the hey??? Duh. It just dawned on me. IF they just voted on TUESDAY ... WHAT Tuesday?? You posted this at 6:39 PM on Monday, the 23rd.
I believe they voted last week Judy. The reform bill has made it through both the house and the senate. I just received the email on Monday along with my father's personal opinions on the matter. I will save those for another conversation.
