There is a thread on cpaptalk where people have found that if they don't keep their mask cushion  sparkling clean, they have less leaks.  Folks are saying that not washing your mask every day seems to give a better seal.  Now how often you wash it then, I guess is up to you.  As a very leak prone individual with a Mirage Quattro FFM and thoroughly padded nose bridge and pressure 18/22,

I'm going to try it out.

My new   Respironics Comfort Gel was going to be the mask that ended my nose problems.  Well, I haven't (in just a couple of uses) been able to stop the leaks and last night the forehead piece fell off while I was tightening straps.  I just switched back to the quattro so as not to have to fix the comfort gel ritght then.

dang, sorry you're having trouble with the Comfort Gel. My wife swears by it. But to each her own mask, it seems.

interesting theory about mask washing. makes sense that washing it less would subject it to less wear and tear and consequently keep the material tighter/ less leak prone. That said, I'm a big fan of washing that bacteria away.
I realized that with the trouble I have with my nose bridge a dirty mask is not a good thing. Back to every day washing with warm water and mild soap and a clean shiny mask.

i normally recommend washing masks twice a week with just warm water. But whatever makes you feel comfortable is the best way to do it. But definitely wash it at least twice a week.
