Caution: enormous nostrils ahead

ok, so i'll just call out the 500 lb. gorilla in the room. yes, my nostrils are enormous.

now, onto the serious question I have about this photo i just snapped of my nose with my iphone. see the sore: it's kind of between the nostrils and clearly caused all of a sudden by my Activa nasal mask. but i've been using this thing successfully and without incident for about a year. What changed?
