c pap and tooth pain
I am new to the group and my machine. Its just been 2 weeks and my teeth hurt sooo bad . I have fibromyalgia so pain is always intensified. I tried to find a humidifier for my Resmed compact s8 and no one even returned my calls. Feeling scared and hopeless again. I was so happy to get my machine. but didn't wear it for two days now due to the pain. Is this common ? Thanks for listening, Susan

Hi Susan, I use a ResMed S8 Autoset II with a humidifier. My doc wrote the script that included the humidifier. (Your doc didn't?) I have run out of water during the night on 2 occasions. WOW, there is a huge difference. My mouth is extremely dry, my throat hurts, my nose hurts. I would just take a guess and say your teeth hurt because your mouth is extremely dry. I will bet you will get some good advice on this forum about how to get a humidifier for your machine. In my opinion, I could not do the CPAP therapy without my humidifier. GOOD LUCK and hang in there. This is the perfect place to get help with all your questions!

Perhaps it is due to a lack of a humidifier.
But your problems can also be caused by Bruxism. (Grinding the teeth).
Some Sleep Apnea patients experience Bruxism especially at the beginning of the CPAP treatment. If this continues it may cause serious TMJ problems.
Here is a link to a little device to put on the incisors. This solved the problem in my case.

Just in case... is it your top front teeth that are hurting?
During the short time I used another mask (and I can't remember now which it was, the Breeze? Ultra Mirage? maybe) I found that my upper front teeth were hurting/aching. I think the mask just was pressing too much on my upper lip and even though it didn't hurt my lip (it didn't seem like much pressure), just that pressure overnight really bothered my teeth.
Maybe it was the mask style, or maybe I had them too tight, but I don't have that problem with my Swift masks.
Could your mask be the culprit?
