Last Friday I had the appointment with my sleep doc and told him I was still feeling tired. He ordered a pressure increase by two points. Today an Apria tech came out and adjusted my pressures but before leaving she made sure that they were right. She hooked up her machine and got a confused look on her face. She told me that at an 8 setting it was reading at 5. It all makes sense now why I've been sleeping so crappy. My machine is broken :(. Thank god it was figured out when it was so I can start sleeping better. She left the new pressures on the machine and she's going to call ResMed about getting me another unit in a couple of days. I still have the old one to use until then. I really thought that there was something wrong with me. I kept thinking "Why do I still feel like crap?" I thought I had some other medical issues besides the apnea and being overweight. Now I know that that's probably not the case. If I would've changed the pressures on my own like my sleep doc told me to do I would have never known the machine was broken. When I first got the machine I would wake up rested and ready to go. I wonder if it broke just recently? Hm guess there's no way to tell....

Of course I do.

You're an asshole.

WOW!! I didn't know that.  Do you have to be one to use a CPAP machine?

Charles, she is just a nasty piece of work that doesn't have Sleep Apnea or a CPAP and doesn't know what we go through. You are best just to not to reply to any of her replies and hopefully she will go away. I don't know why Mike hasn't got rid of her as she has broken most of the guidelines. Keep asking the rest of us any questions.

I strongly agree, Terry. Her rudeness is awful!   Now if she had a solution of how to get rid of using the darn chin strap I might think a little better of her.  :)  By the way, 7 day average AHI is still good at 1.2.

Ginny, Fantastic, I can't help you with the chin strap because I use one but yuor AHI is great, mines usually around 2-3 but that is much better than my 30+. Keep telling the positive story.

Prior to the surgery (4 weeks ago tomorrow) it was usually anywhere from 2-3. Occasionally 4.  But always under 5.  So surgery has helped and it does feel much better. Don't you find the chin strap hot?   I can't stand it some times!!!

Ginny, I can understand how you can feel hot, we have just been through Summer here in Australia with days of 40c and nights of 25c so I thought I would but I didn't. I cool down the room with AC before I go to bed then run a small fan at night. If you think the chin strap is bad, my routine is ear plugs, eye mask, FFM then chin strap. If could see myself, I think I would look like a mummy. I'm sensetive to light and noise maybe due to the SA and wear the chin strap to keep everything in place, but understand how you feel.

Sometimes I look in the mirror with chin strap and nasal pillows and hose and just shake my head!    What brand/name of chin strap do you use?

Ginny, it's a Resmed not sure where it's called, I have a Resmed Mirage Quattro mask and Resmed Autoset CPAP. The chin strap is fairly thin not one of the large ones I have see. Probably the biggest issue I have with it is that it sometimes slips off in the middle of the night and also marks a bit. I wrap material that I use to make mask liners around where it slips and where it marks and that seems to do the trick.

Thanks~My face has "road map" marks in the AM!!!!    :)

That's certainly a very tempting offer, but due to the volume of inquiries received, mollete can't answer every question directly, but rather selects what she feels is most important and beneficial to the group.

Right now, that would be Noah's particular situation, which includes posting and interpretation of oximetry data; determining the likelihood of CSR with limited diagnostic information; and selection and effects of sleep medications on SBD and related diagnostic testing.
