I had been using a rental/loaner machine from my dr since diagnosis 2 months ago. I had called and spoke with them regarding just renting until the first of next year because of the MM deductible not being met yet and the year over half over.....

ANYWAYS

She recommended I go ahead and get it now, because BCBS is going to be having some major insurance changes because of this new healthcare bill.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

guess not, lol
yeah, insurance is such a black box -- tough to understand what the policy actual is today, let alone what they might have in store for the future. let us know if you hear anything more concrete.

Regarding what j n k said, it might be smart to try and get more answers from BCBS. The person at the Equipment Provider might not personally benefit from you spending the extra money, and maybe you can trust them, but perhaps they could be more forthcoming about what what changes are in store. It's not fair to give you part of the information (big changes? what does that mean) as she possibly does have a vested interest.
Besides, BCBS has so many different policies - and businesses can change the policies they prefer to provide for their employees and even those employers who are self-insured but have BCBS administer their plans can have different plans and change their benefits. I think I would take the DME provider's "advice" w/a block of salt.

I don't think it unlikely that there will be changes to many of the BCBS plans offered due to health care reform. If nothing else this is an opportune time for all insurances to reword policies, change benefits, raise premiums, etc. Remember one of the asinine provisions of this health care bill was mandatry FREE health care screening for some things.

Ain't no such thing as FREE - you don't get nuttin' for nuttin' Santa Claus is dead. And especially you don't get nuttin' free from guv'ment, no how.

Oooo! So TRUE, jnk. And remember the good old days of surplus food and that DELICIOUS canned roast beef and gravy? AND the PEANUT BUTTER. I've never had peanut butter so good!!! (And that was in the days BEFORE Jimmy Carter for President!)
