In another thread, I saw some references to alternative power sources in the event of a power outage. There are numerous ways to achieve a back up power source, but you need to use some caution.
The best way is to have your house wired for use with a generator. While expensive, if still provides you with some of the creature comforts until the power is restored.
If your machine has the capability of 12v DC voltage (i.e. standard auto 12v), make sure you have the proper 12v power cord. As David said in another thread, "Be certain you have the correct DC power cables some machines require an inline power filter also correct polarity is a must. They are NOT forgiving of improper hook up."
I have a friend who devised a method to connect a voltage inverter to his car battery and then runs an extension cord (like the heavy duty orange ones) into his bed room. Works great for him. You can do the same thing with a 12v auto battery in a battery box equipped with a trickle charger, so it is always fully charged. Just add the voltage inverter and you now have a 110v AC power source in which to power your *PAP.
There are many ways to be prepared. Share your methods and help your fellow hose heads.
