Average Vibratory Snore
A 3-month printout on my Smart Card showed an Average Vibratory Score Index of 219.5. Should I be concerned? I use my C-Pap every night, and I am waking up often. My Average Obstructed Airway Apnea Index is done to 1.2 (good-down from 62), and Average Hypopnea Index is 1.2 (good).

CPAP should prevent snoring. Your index is very high. Which machine brand/model are you using? Which mask are you using? Do you have a bed partner who has heard you snoring?

Rooster -- I have a REMstar Auto A-Flex machine and a ResMed Swift LT mask. I don't have a bed partner. A printout from my Smart Card showed the high snoring index.

Let's think about this for a minute. Your snore index (SI) is very high. The machine is recording an average of 219 snores per hour over a long period of time. That is almost continuous snoring. How do you feel? I expect you feel much better than when you were untreated, but with that many snores, you probably are far from feeling zippy.
On the other hand your Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) is good - 2.4. The AHI is the sum of your apnea index and your hypopnea index.
Usually when you see a SI as high as yours, the AHI is unacceptably high also. So what is going on? Let's think about a couple of possibilities.
1. It could be that your pressure is set just high enough to have the AHI under control but not quite high enough to control snores.
2. Your leak rate looks good or I would suspect the mask is leaking and the vibrations from the mask are being recorded as snores. Do you think your mask is leaking? Do you hear it leaking or vibrating before you fall asleep or when you wake up?
3. There could be something wrong with the machine reporting, but I really don't think so because I have never heard of this problem and the other statistics seem to be legitimate.
What to do? If 2 and 3 are ruled out, then a pressure increase is probably needed to stop the snoring. The only caution here is you must know whether you had any central apneas in any of your sleep studies. If you have a tendency to central apneas, then raising the pressure could worsen the central apnea.
The snoring is something that definitely needs resolving. What is your relationship with the sleep clinic? Is this something you can discuss with them by phone?
Is it correct that you do not have the Encore software that is an option for your machine?
