Attention: CMV Interstate Truck or Commercial Bus Drivers

From apneasupport.com

Anyone who is a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operator engaged in interstate commerce (truck or commercial bus driver) who has sleep apnea has a host of regulatory issues to deal with in addition to getting good treatment for your sleep apnea.

We have a special chapter of the ASAA A.W. A. K. E. network of patient support groups for truck drivers. Check

http://www.awake.truckersforacause.com/

See the information tab for links to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) medical certification guidelines.

If you are a commercial driver who has sleep apnea or you are worried about keeping your job if diagnosed with sleep apnea DON'T WORRY....

There are a lot of us "hose heads" out running over the road with our CPAP.

Contact us at the TFAC-A. W. A. K. E. site or post your question in the forums here.

Just a suggestion - if you are a CMV operator and you post a question in the forums . please put in your post that you are a CMV operator or truck driver. At times the answers may differ due to the medical certification issues involved with having sleep apnea as a professioal driver.

Thanks Bob Stanton

The D.O.T. sleep research results come out next month. Rumor is that a sleep study will be a requirement to hold a CDL.

Interesting as my hubby is an over the road driver.  I have wondered if he has sleep apnea due to his snoring which rivals the trains that go by.  Of course he hasn't had a sleep study and has no desire to get one even though I have suggested it.  He doesn't want it on his record.  He is 58 and not your typical apnea patient in regards to body mass, weight, etc.  He smokes like there is no tomorrow though and that isn't going to change (believe me I have tried every tactic known to woman).
