Aroma Therapy

I just started using my CPAP machine about 40 days ago.  I went to a website that sold a device to hang my hose from my headboard and I bought some aroma therapy scents that are placed in the back of the CPAP machine by the air intake.  I understand that you are not supposed to place anything inside the humidifier but does anyone have any advise about placing the aroma outside of the device by the air-intake?

Armando, did the aromatherapy come with any directions?  My understanding is that you place it near your air filter.
