anyone gotten weight under control with sleep alone?

wondering whether anyone has experimented with a "diet" consisting solely of more or better quality sleep.  i know that the science backs up the premise.  just not sure anyone has put it to the test yet as an actual diet plan.

also, if not, anyone want to do it as a New Year's Resolution?  I'd try it myself, but i have a 1 year old which makes more sleep impossible and am going the conventional route of diet and exercise ;0

Hi Mike, Your study of blood sugar and good sleep are indicators of how this could be effective, but in the real world our sleep hygine has many obsticals. If their is a study in a warm lacation I would be willing to participate! Good Sleep, Chris

I have thought of doing this, half jokingly to myself, as I have not gotten back to getting 8 hours of sleep per night since being on CPAP.  It is usually more like 6-6.5 per night, with a few nights at 7 and an occasional 8 hour spell.  I often feel tired and believe I would do better with 7-8 hours on a regular basis, but have not been able to make myself do it yet.

I suspect it does not work so well in reverse, though.  As you get too little sleep, and your hormones shift, and you crave more carbs, and then eat to much, you gain the extra weight.  Getting the hormones to shift back with consistent adequate sleep might not be so easy, and then there are the poor eating habits that need to be changed too.  It feels like the "cards" are stacked against me in this process.  I think it will require all three to be in balance - sleep, diet, exercise, to create the desired effect.  If you could actually sleep a lot AND not eat so much, that might work, but the body still needs the exercise to function optimally.

And then - there's GRAVITY!  LOL -  Can't escape the effects of that forever!

What science are you talking about Mike? Everything that I have read says that a healthy balance is the key. Without a healthy diet good sleep would not be very achievable. Without good sleep a healthy diet would be waisted.
