When I got my first PAP machine it was a ResMed bipap called a VPAP S; that was in 2009. I have since come to suspect that this was an older machine and my DME could have given me a much newer machine. Does anyone have a sense of how old the VPAP S may be?

Thanks

Was it an S7? Grey, considerably clunkier looking than the beige and navy S8s? The S8 series came out in mid to late 2006 but Resmed didn't come out w/an S8 VPAP until early 2008. And they came out w/the S9 series in mid 2010 but didn't come out w/an S9 VPAP until just a month or two ago.

I suspect that Resmed introduces just their basic Escape, Elite and AutoSet models in a new series and let the bugs get worked out before they release the higher end sophisticated devices like the VPAPs, etc.

In addition to which there is considerably less demand for the higher end sophisticated devices so I also suspect they wait for their inventory for the previous series' models to go down before they release the sophisticated models of the new series

The S8 II VPAP S (beige and navy) came out in July 2008.
It is beige and navy but it does not say anything about "S8" in any of the documentation that came from the DME; but you are undoubtedly correct. Thanks
