Hi
I'm19 and have been diagnosed with sleep disordered breathing/UARS. Sleep study showed UARS but wasn't so bad that it was full sleep apnea.
Anyway, I had a sleep nasendoscopy today to determine treatment. Results were 80% tonsillar obstruction, 10% tongue base and 10% nose (I have enlarged turbinates due to chronic allergic rhinitis).
The recommendation as a result is of course tonsillectomy. I was wondering if you agree with this as a second opinion would be valuable. My tonsils are very large and did not shrink as they usually do when a child grows up. I always thought they were the main cause of my problems. I wake up too often and sleep awfully with a lot of dream recall - have had typical UARS symptoms really.
I have the option of reducing my turbinates too - should I bother or is it pointless due to the allergies? That is being treated separately by the allergist medically, so far unsuccessfully - they want to try immunotherapy next for that.
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jonathan
