I tried the Respironics FitLife full face mask last night and had some problems.  The reason i switched last night from my usual ResMed Activa Nasal Mask is i've been having new leak/mouth breathing problems with it, despite using a chin strap.

To paint the picture properly, you'll recall that the Respironics Fit Life looks like this:

Even though it looks like that, I've heard terrific things about it, which is why I wanted to give it a whirl.  I think it has a lot of potential for me, but my main problem was that it kept on sliding up from below my mouth, up over my lips to higher than my mouth, so that i was effectively using it as a nasal mask for much of the night.  Anyone have any suggestions about how to keep this in place?

Well, that's interesting Mike, you posting this.  I love the Fitlife, and by accident I put it on with the lower part under my chin  LOL!  However, I discovered that it's much more comfier this way.  I also shared this information with Mary on here, as I know she uses and likes this mask.  She tried it out with it under her chin and told me she liked it better too.  I'm meeting Respironics on Monday so I shall be telling them about my findings.  I'll also ask them about your slipping problem to see if they've heard of this before, as it doesn't slip on my face when I tried it in it's correct position.  I wonder if it depends on the shape of our chins or the oils in our skin??

Do you have a chin strap Mike? If so take take the velcro strap and use it as a chin anchor. The head strap from the FX will work as well.

Yes, I do have a chin strap. That's a great idea. I'll try it tonight. Thanks Rock!

Mike, one thing I do is use a stretchy sweat head band from just in front of one bottom connector (on the strap) , under my chin to  the the strap on the other side.  Keeps things nicely in place.

I really like the FitLife as well - BUT - have not yet mastered a reliable way to prevent a leak in the center of the forehead. Evidently my forehead is too flat, or the FitLife's forehead cushion is too rounded for my forehead. I haven't given up on it entirely tho.

Hi, i too love the fitlife too and I too discovered the lower part under the chin works good. Then I discovered something else that helps me to wear it on the chin,as I supposed it was designed to wear that way. Now, the other night I was cleaning it with a wipe as i always do before sleeping when I thought, why not leave the wipe on to help with face marks? So, I put one wipe on each side covering the mask and immediately went to sleep. Gosh, I woke up 8 hours later!!!!

Haven't slept that long since i've been on c-pap! No face marks!!!

Hi Judy,

I had that problem too, now I just wrap a wide chin strap around the top, all the way around my head, loosely, not tight.

It holds the top, no leaks! If you don't have a wide chin strap I guess you could use a panty hose leg.

Thanks for that tip, Betty. I'll try it.

Hi Mike, Are you clogging up nasally ? causing your mouth to open gasping for air? What setting is your humidifier?and is it working? Saw a posting that heater plate needs air flow under it to work right .Im gonna see what I can find that wont be flamible and not keep the heater from turning on when it needs to.With the winter here have had to bump up humidifier setting 2 which makes it set a #4.Still have postnasal drip, need to look in to air filters ....have you had any experance with them? Good Sleep,Chris
