Hello, I was asked to post this as a new discussion topic. I wanted to provide some information on the Oral Systemic Balance (OSB). I am not a dentist, I am a professor. I have had migraines for 36 years, have had every treatment from acupuncture to Zanadine (muscle relaxant). The migraines usually came twice a week, and lasted 1-3 days. You can see how this would define my life. I got the OSB (oral systemic balance) dental device from Dr. Lawler, and have not had a migraine in 3 months. I'm one of the people Dr. Lawler has videotaped. All I can say is, I hope the dental and medical communities embrace this research so others can benefit as I have. Dr. Lawler is studying with Dr. Farrand Robson of Tacoma Washington.

I have slept 3 nights with the night time appliance. I am feeling great! I have much more energy today than I have had for a long time. I want to pinch myself to see if this a dream. I never felt this good the whole 10 months I used bpap. I slept over 5 hours without waking up (wouldn't have woke then but my wife was up) I went right back to sleep. I have not had to get up in the night to use the restroom either. I am usually wake 3 or more times a night even when on bpap. I am curious to see what a sleep study will show.
I will admit the appliance is a little bulky but manageable. It does not leave sores on my face. i do not have to worry about leaks or the sound of the machine waking me up. I do not wake up feeling someone has been pumping lungs so fill of air that my ribs and back are sore. My wife says my breathing at night is the best that it has been in 20 years.
So far I am sold on this system only time will tell. I have another appointment this Friday with Dr Lawler. I will keep you updated.

Carl, Do either of the appliances advance the jaw? Are there illustrations of the appliances on the OSB website?
The nigh time appliance advances the jaw. I looked on the website and could not find a picture of the appliance. The night time is a upper and lower jaw appliance. They are actually connected to each other by 2 arms. It is a mouthful but is comfortable to wear. the lower jaw appliance on this one is very simular to the daytime one. This appliance is very restrictive and does not allow alot of movement. I can still talk and drink with it in though.
The day time appliance advances the jaw also. The daytime one is much freer to wear it kind of floats in your mouth and finds its own comfort spot. the daytime appliance is a lower jaw appliance. It allows more room in your mouth for your tongue and opens your airway.

My sleep doctor told me yesterday that only people with mild sleep apnea will benefit from a dental device. Is that true? Does this device move your teeth and jaw permanently? This is a neat discovery and plan to research it more since I too deal with daily headaches.
