story of lengths a husband is going to for his wife to get Sleep Apnea treatment...
Lacking the means to pay for expensive medical
testing, Robert Jordan has invested great effort in
finding another way to address his wife's sleep
apnea, a condition Jordan feared would take her life
and leave their 4-year-old son, Robert Jordan III,
motherless.
Robert Jordan has long worked toward a community
fundraising event, and the plans have all come
together for Sunday. A soul food restaurant, Flavorz,
at 801 Providence Blvd., is hosting a yard sale
starting 11:30 a.m. Sunday followed by Jordan's
own Old Skool Dinner Show.
Jordan said the sale features paintings, figurines,
candleholders and other decor items donated by a
local business. With each purchase, people will
receive a ticket for door prize drawings.
At 2 p.m., the Old Skool Dinner Show begins inside
Flavorz.
"It's going to feature my homemade chicken wing
recipe, but Flavorz will have things from their menu
as well," Jordan said. "During dinner I will sing
songs from the Motown era, like 'My Girl,' 'Dock of
the Bay,' 'Just My Imagination' and 'Me and Mrs.
Jones.'"
Chicken wings, with Jordan's signature bold and
zesty sauce, will be sold for 50 cents each or $5 per
dozen, and copies of Jordan's CD will be sold for
$3. Money raised will go toward medical expenses
for Jennifer Jordan. Robert Jordan said Nashville
Sleep Solutions recently donated the testing services
that confirmed the gravity of his wife's illness.
"They said her case of sleep apnea was so severe it
was a miracle she didn't have a heart attack in her
sleep," he said. "Any and all support would be
greatly appreciated."
