Philips Respironics System One REMstar Auto or Resmed S9 AutoSet™ CPAP Machine

My insurance provider has offered to order one of these two machines (actually I asked if they can order me one of these two after researching on the web and they said they can).  But I have not found a head to head comparison.  Which one do I want and why?  I have been reading the discussions and I understand the mask I choose is probably more important, but that seems to be a more personal choice.  This is just hardware and I am wondering which company people feel executed better.

Quite is a high priority for me.
I think the Resmed has a smaller diameter hose which seems a plus.
Usability is important.
Reliability
What else?

They seem to both be state of the art machines and I wonder what people think who have had one, or better, both.

Thanks.....

s9 uses

SD CARDS does that mean it can be read by any computer

and if so does it require resmed softwear
I got my ResMed software of eBay, but it's version 3.7 for the S8 series. I don't know where you get 3.10, but it seems at least one person on the forum has it.. I got mine software for $2.95 until the guy realized he was sitting on a gold mine and started charging $29.95.
If the person who has it doesn't come through with where he got it, I'd try Australia. I googled it and several links came up, one for 39.95.
Good Luck.
Good question on the software. I have no idea yet. that was one reason I wanted to be able to see some info on the LED screen itself. I'll probably make myself a chart to record it on every morning as I'm not sure if you can see prior nights' data on the screen itself. The S9 is supposed to let you see some data there, so you should be able to at least access that at the start. Then maybe in the manual you can find out what kind of software is needed and try to locate it.
Ask at cpaptalk.com if someone would PM you w/where you can get the ResScan 3.10 software.

EncoreViewer 2.0 is now available or ask at cpaptalk.com if someone would PM you where you can get EncorePro 2.2

I can tell you that "I" do NOT like EncorePro 2.2 and find it difficult to use its data to auto titrate.
I received my S9 Elite today with all the fixings (Humidifier, heated tube, Swift FX™ Nasal Pillow, Etc.). Brand new and I can not wait to see if it helps as much as I hope it will. I will email a follow-up on the weekend. I did go through the display and it gives basic data on hours used but to see events one needs the software I think.

Thanks once again for all the help.
Whoops. Just re-read my post and it sounds like I am confusing Resmed's ResScan and Respironics' EncorePro.

I'm not.

I was just suggesting WHERE users could easily get information on where to obtain either software depending on which they needed.

And congratulations, Mike E, on getting that S9 Elite. I wish I was more familiar w/the S9s but I'd be willing to bet that there's access to your data on the S9s that just maybe hasn't been turned on for you.
The cpap manufacturers list their noise rating in db ... and I think the pr is 29 or 30 and s9 is only 24 ... noise IS a big factor ... and that IS a big difference in decibels.
