A healthy social life is just as important to good health as anything else. I would like to know what everyone does for fun.

what's fun?
Yeah, Sharon!!! I'm "into" genealogy as well! The "internet age" sure beats the old "snail mail and wait" method!!! Altho the library, court house and cemetery visits are always a treat. Especially if you find what you are looking for or an unexpected "prize"!!!

I read, watch old TV series on DVDs, and do geneology research.
OMG - I could use 72 hour days AT LEAST... Besides working full time like most people, I enjoy the following:

* - My wonderful wife and two boys - more on them all later :^)
* - Martial Arts - I've been studying since I've been 8. I specialize in Isshin Ryu and Shaolin Kempo, but also study Yang Tai Chi and try to work on some Eagle Claw Kung fu when I have a chance - so much to do - so little time.
* - Scuba - I am trained up through Full Cave Diver by both NACD and NSS-CDS, plus Tri-Mix diver and blender through IANTD... Most of my scuba diving is limited (unfortunately) to while we are on vacation.
* - Amateur Radio - Extra Class Amateur Radio license holder - starting to work on a nice station :^)
* - Music - I play piano, clarinet, flute, and sax (alto). I've always wanted a nice soprano sax though - maybe one of these days :^)
* - Computers - Let's see - our house has 6 desktop computers, 5 laptops, plus I'm building a new desktop based on the Asus Rampage II Extreme motherboard and i7-920 chip with 6 gigs of ram and an NVidia 275 video.
* - Model planes - RC model planes - some gas (nitro) - some electric - a few "under construction"
* - Model cars - a few electric - one of my sons has one that is "under construction" - one gas - needs work.
* - Model trains - O gauge - Lionel - unfortunately no place to set them up right now - trying to get an addition built for them.

I was the coach of my boys FLL (First Lego League) team in which they build autonomous robots using Lego. We were the world champions in robot performance in 2008. Now most of the children that were on the team are too old, but we still have all our robots and attachments saved. This started my oldest boy (Josh), who's now 17 (home schooled through high school), selling Lego online leading to him opening a retail store called (what else) "Josh's Toys & Games" in the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua NH back in October 2008 at the age of 15. He just opened his 2nd store (same name) in Oct 2009 in the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH... He's now working on both a web presence for his store and looking for locations for a 3rd store. I'm pretty sure he has a facebook page for the store - not sure what other things like that he has done. When he first opened his store he couldn't even drive. I'm probably the ONLY parent of a teenager that sighed a sigh of relief when he got his driver's license :^) My other boy Jonathan is 14. He was also on the Lego team and helps out with the store a bit. He's a freshman in high school. He is also a great boy and I love both of them dearly.

Both of my boys are martial artists, they have their amaetur radio licenses and they are scuba divers (I started teaching them very young - 4.5 years old for Josh and 5.75 years old for Jonathan) and underwater photographers! They also share in many of my other hobbies with me, so we have a great deal of fun together. Of course, now that they're both teenagers - they also give each other a lot of grief :^) - or is that :^(

My wife is a nurse - actually, she was a nurse, now she teaches nursing. We've been married 22 years and I always say that if everyone had a wife like I do, there would be no divorce :^) Of course, she likes it when I say that, but i only say that because it's true and I even say it when she is NOT around!

So - that's my story - probably a lot longer than expected - sorry 'bout that ...

Carl
What a rich and varied life, Carl! Good on you and the family.
Well, I volunteer regularly with a local animal rescue. I love it. I have a dog assigned to me as my Kennel Buddy and I spend time with him/her training and going on little trips around town. The idea is to help them become more adoptable and get them out of the kennel environment for a while. I also ride horses. And my favorite thing is spending time with my beautiful dog, Duncan.

Rock, can we get copies of your daughter's art? :) It's wonderful and would make great pictures for animal related stuff!
My 'fun" is ghosthunting!
We've got some talented folks on this forum! Some busy ones too. Where do you find the energy?

I enjoy spending time with the family, my husband and my 2 girls. I'm glad that the good weather is back so we can go hiking again and just generally spend more time outdoors.

I like to play the ukulele. It's amazing what you can do with the little thing! I've only just begun my journey with the instrument and I'm doing pretty well. It's a workout for the mind. I play the uke for my little girls class once a month. I have fun making up new "kid versions" of popular songs for them.

I really enjoy the art of Bonsai though since having to leave all my trees behind in California I've not been doing it so much lately. I need to get started again.

I usually do kitten rescue during the summer. Take on some kittens with no mom and bottle feed them etc. I have to back off this summer though because I promised my hubby :), no more for 2 years. We ended up adopting yet another kitty, we now have four. He was so sickly and every time I brought him to the rescue place for adoption for the day he would get sick again. He's a great talented cat though, check out his uke playing at the end of the video I'm attaching. I've also taught him to hi five, roll over, sit up, beg, lay down and orbit (go in a circle). It's a video of a song I made up for a ukulele contest for a store that will be selling ice cream and ukulele's.

Y'all have given me and inferiority complex. I should be counting my blessings though, having much improved functioning after a very severe bout of Bipolar disease, heavy on the depression.

I like to spend time with my husband and son. My son is 7 and he has autism. He barely started talking a lot this year . It's amazing when he says something new . ("I love that little guy!!!!!!") We go to the park and play baseball, I also love to sing, and exspecially love to cook and make new recipes.
