Well, I want to tell everyone that I've officially reached my first full month on CPAP (no applause please, save it for the end!)
I've tried three different masks, and have used the machine every single night, for the entire night!
I love this thing! I actually look forward to getting to bed, putting on the mask, and starting up the CPAP.
Using the CPAP has had some obvious benefits, and a few interesting ones that I hadn't anticipated. One is that I now have a "system" every night, of cleaning and filling the humidifier, cleaning and adjusting the mask, and getting everything on and working. Once I start the process, I'm already "thinking sleep", so I'm halfway there once I get into bed. In the morning, I have a similar "disassemble and clean" routine, which gets me started on the day.
Another thing that I've experienced is that I tend to keep going all day. Prior to CPAP, I'd have a series of periods during the day where I would be very sluggish, and often would have to nap. Now those are gone, and no more naps!
All in all, I feel way better on CPAP, and I expect to have even more improvement once the results of my titration study are back, and the unit is adjusted to a more optimal pressure.
So, if anyone is wondering if there's "life after CPAP", I'm here to tell you that there is! And I'm loving it!
;)
