Alan--it just came to my attention that you accidentally posted your Discussion question on the Articles page. I left you a comment, but you'll find it on the Articles wall 'cause I didn't realize at the time where we were!! Sorry!!--check on Articles for my response.

You might want to check with your MD. as you may need a pressure change. Without seeing what is happening i would say you are having events.

Do you have any post nasal drip?

Are you using the humidifier? What setting?

Have you changed your filters?

How long have you been on cpap?

"Hi Alan--Welcome to SleepGuide!! I'm sorry I don't have much to offer you with your coughing question. When I was starting out on CPAP this summer, I had a lot of problems with nasal/sinus congestion, sneezing, headache, etc. Thought at the time I had a bad cold but later learned it was side effects of CPAP treatment--it was drying out my sinus cavity beyond tolerance. What's helped me is keeping the humidification turned higher on my machine. Generally speaking, I've been told that these kinds of issues are best treated with humidity. Do you have a humidifier on your CPAP? If not, you might want to try a warm air humidifier, like a vaporizer you'd use for a child with a cold. I have NO IDEA if that will help your cough, but it might be worth a try to see. I'm hoping you have a humidification system in your equipment....

You'll probably be getting more responses after today...it's kinda quiet on Sundays sometimes.

Are you using the humidifier.... for me that is almost always the cause. I have what they refer to as 'silent asthma' I don't wheeze, I cough... and when I am anywhere near humidity, my asthma kicks in full force!! Just a thought. Usually one of the first things I do for a patient too... pull the humidifier...

At the same time... as someone else mentioned... it could be not enough. I would try playing with it to see if anything makes a difference
