My DME called to say my Wisp had arrived.  Within 15 minutes I was back home with it.  It says to wash before use, so don't know if will be dry enough to try tonight.  But handling it and looking at it it looks like maybe be comfortable.   I hope so.  Updates after I use.

I got my Wisp Tuesday and am going to try it tonight.  I don't know if I will like the tube going over my head.  I was lucky- I got it the first day it was available from cpap.com. for $99.  The next day it had gone up in price.

I have been using a ResMed gel nasal cushion and like it a lot.  I have to use a chine strap.  Now I might be able to keep my mouth closed without the chin strap.

mary, I have never worn it over my head.  Tried once and just like it the other way.  Learned something today!!!   The white tabs (plastic) that are under your ears can be removed.  They are rather hard and make a little round mark on your neck.  So I removed them and going to try without them in tonight.  Hope you have good luck with yours. What size cushion you using.  If either large or the smallest I can mail my extras to you.

Why do you think you might not have to wear a chin strap Mary with this one?  Interested in this discussion as it's landing here in the UK any time now and we'll be selling it.  Can't wait to trial it :)

I have stopped my chin strap and use a soft cervical collar instead.   Much more comfortable but can be hot.  SOme nights I take off and do OK without it, other nights if I take off I have to put back on.Of all the masks I have tried this is the best for me Until something new...lol)

Kath, I hope I have learned to keep my mouth closed by myself and won't need the chin strap. On the other hand the chin strap is really not a bother and if I'm in deep sleep I won't know if I'm breathing through my mouth.

Ginny, I'm using the small/medium cushion, but think I could also use the large one.  I used it for the first time last night and really liked the fit and comfort.  Using a nasal mask is new for me.  I now understand why some people feel they cannot get enough air.  I felt like I could not move enough air through my nose when I first put on the mask. I used the Quattro fx when I first went to bed and when I settled down changed to the Wisp.   Kath, I think you will like the Wisp when you get them in.  It's very small and light.  The bottom of the cushion sits just below your nose, not further down resting right above your upper lip and the  top rests below the bridge of your nose.  I found it very easy to size both the cushion and the straps.  It's not immediately obvious  and I didn't read the instructions or I would have known that the little plastic buttons on the ends of the bottom strap are the attachments.  You just pull them off.  When you get the mask you will see that . It also has a loop on the top strap you can thread your hose through- I just let nine hang and it wasn't a problem.  There is an assortment of cushions- a small, m/s, and large.  I am using the s/m, but think I could also use the large.  I got the fabric straps, but you can also get plastic. It's not the whole strap, but the part that connects the mask to the stretch straps that go over your head.  Ginny had a good idea about trading cushions- the sizes you don't need for the ones you use.

I will see how it holds up over   the next month.  The cushions are small and thin so I don't think they will be expensive to replace.  I bought the Wisp out of pocket as I wasn't due for a new mask.  It was $99 on cpap.com, but went up to $109 the next day.  I'm glad I didn't wait and think about buying  one.  I am trying not to put any pressure on the top teeth  since I found out I have "smashed face syndrome" from an ill fitting mask. Now more than ever I'm preaching (to the choir I'm sure) there is no substitute for a properly sized and fitted mask.  No more silicone fixes for me!

I hope you get them in soon.

Mary

I found I had the same feeling at first of not enough air but now feel fine using it.  It was more comfortable last night with th elittle round white buttons off!  It is so easy to clean this mask~   I wash the short hose about twice a week (maybe I should do more!)  My performance tubing weekly and the cushion daily.  I use baby shampoo for all. If you find you can use the large cushion I will mail you mine. I have ordered another fabric frame so to have a spare but it is back ordered!! Wishing you continued good luck with this mask!

Thanks Mary and the others.  Can't wait to get my hands on it, as I feel this mask will help so many people who suffer from nasal bridge sores (me included) from traditional masks.  I'll have to use a chin strap though, as I wouldn't trust myself to keep my mouth shut (I have that trouble during the day too lol).  Be interesting to hear whether you manage it.

Ginny, how do you fasten the mask without those white tabs? That's the only way I can take it off and put it on easily.
I am still quite pleased with the mask. It is very light, is easy to take on and off- I got used to the button fasteners quickly. There seems to be no pressure points. I am doing well with a simple generic chin strap - I think I could make as many as I want with an ace bandage. I just wear the big strap over the top of my head, around my chin without using any of the other straps provided

mary, I just removed the white tabs  (button fasteners) and put the strap through the opening and secured it to itself with the velcro that is on it. When I want to remove it I just loosen them and pull it off over my head. So I don't need the white fasteners at all and it feels more comfortable.   Hope this makes sense.

I wish I could find a cooler cervical collar but don't think anything would be any cooler.

Well, my Wisp arrived today! I picked it up at my DME and got it washed. They only gave me the S/M cushion. I tried it on & hooked it up. It didn't leak. I can go back & get either cushion or return the entire thing. Did others get the entire package. I asked for fit instructions & she said I wouldn't need it! I'm wondering if it's time to move to another DME?! Will be back with report. Not sure if it'll be dry for tonight.

You were entitled to the whole intact package with all three sizes of cushions to try, I noticed when I went back to get a "spare" cushion, it was taken form a package of an entire mask,  And then they charged my insurance for it, the replacement cushion should have come in packaging of it's own. I would ask for what YOU paid for even if it is insurance paying .....I wanted the instructions also, The whole kit and kaboodle should belong to you,

Thanks Ginny, I told my hubby when I got home that I am not happy with this company's protocol. If they won't give it to me, I'll be done. They'll certainly here from me if I get charged more than I could have purchased the whole set online. I'm hoping to try tonight.
