bought the Respironics top of the line chin strap, and recorded some better leak results the night I used it than usual -- to be exact, it was the Respironics Premium Chinstrap i believe:

Rock, a couple of thoughts: first, Daniel is not a doctor, and he's certainly not my doctor -- he's a smart guy who has some suggestions for me to discuss with my doctor based on his experience and what he's seen. so he's not "prescribing" anything. the other thing is that i didn't hit 13 once because right now my machine is capped at a range of 10-12 cmwp. i think his point is that me and my doctor might consider opening up the pressure range to see if the machine "wants" to go higher than 12, and if so, to allow it to.

8-15cmwp I don't see why you would set it to this range. This software is new to me, and I still could be reading it wrong. In 4 months did he hit 13 once? If the object of therapy is to keep the pressure as low as possible why would you prescribe a wide open range like this. In my opinion the data does not support it.

In my viewpoint, if your doctor prescribed a pressure range between 8 and 15 cmH2O, I think s/he would be very wise ;-)
Was the chin strap comfortable???
very much so. the material is pretty comfy. not scratchy. pleasant to the skin. that said, the amount of comfort also depends on how tight you velcro the thing around your head. too tight and it will of course be uncomfortable. but i found the material it's made of high quality. must be why they call it the premier or premium Respironics chin strap.

If you truly believe that an AutoCPAP will only raise the pressure if it is warranted, what's the harm of a high maximum? If it is set to 15 and Mike only needs 12, it will only go to 12. I can see the harm of a low minimum, but I don't really see a downside to a high maximum. Some people think that excessive leak could cause the pressure to rise too high, but that is a fallacy.
Your graphs are so cool. I wish I had seen this prior to going to DME today. I took the card to my machine to see if it might say why I have not been well. The DME lady said my report looked great. But there were no charts - only a summary page. Mine must be the low grade nosy how many hours did you use the machine type kind.
I like your graphs much better :o)

Thanks I ordered mine. Have a Blessed Day.Blessings,TrinaLynn
you really owe it to yourself to make sure your provider gets you a FULLY DATA CAPABLE machine. here's a list of them that Judy kindly contributed:

2] Resmed S8 Elite II w/EPR
3] Respironics REMStar Pro II w/C-Flex
4] Respironics M Series Pro w/C-Flex

I sure wish my machine was a data capable machine. It does have some sort of data download port, but, I don't know what type of cable is necessary.

I don't have to worry about breathing thru my mouth. I use a full face mask. I tried a chin strap but, it did not work well. The full face mask has been a life saver.
Glen,

If you let us know the make and exact model of device you have, we can tell if it records similar information.

Mike,

I see that you have the same clusters of dipping lines as I do at one point of your data:

I posted the following a few days ago and you answered me but I realize that you didn't understand my question as I worded my question poorly (as I often do)

I also wanted to know about leak data, I usually have leak lines under 50 (normal for my pressure and mask) but often see clusters of lines dipping slightly below the main line, I wanted to know how and why leaks drop slightly at times then quickly go back to the usual number then quickly dip again LOL you get the idea................what might this be an indication of?
BP, great question -- I don't know the answer. Hopefully, one of the pros or other patients can say. I'd be interested in learning the answer myself.

Sounds like it could be an indication of minor mouth-breathing. Without seeing the data, it's hard to tell. The little up/down/up/downs you see on Mike's leak graph show a very small amount of mouth breathing that is being controlled adequately by the chinstrap.
