Kath, as you probably know ResMed has put out a product like the comfort care sleep pad called the gecko.  There is also something (which I believe used to be the comfort care pad) called the boomerang.  They are more nose protectors than liners, not like the RemZzzs at all.

That's right Mary, and there's also the Nasal Soft CPAP Cushion by Sleepcare Technologies (which is the one we sell).  The Comfort Care Pad is the one that's been re-named the Gecko since Resmed bought out the company.  However, I think Terry was meaning to say RemZzzs as he was talking about mask liners.  Do doubt he'll clarify when he gets back on here.

There are those who make their own mask liners out of coffee pot filters.

Which model Resmed PAP do you have? Escape? Escape Auto? Elite? AutoSet? VPAP? VPAP Auto? etc.?

If you have the Elite, AutoSet or VPAP Auto your PAP is fully data capable and the data could well provide answers to your problem. Just because your PAP has a data card does NOT mean your PAP is fully data capable.

A steady small leak or multiple large leaks could be your problem. You might well need a pressure adjustment. The data from a fully data capable PAP could provide those answers - plus.

IF you have a fully data capable PAP you can ask your DME provider to do a full data download and give you a copy. Or you can get a copy of the Resmed ResScan software or a copy of the SleepyHead shareware to do your own downloads and printouts. If your PAP is not fully data capable there is no need for any software as the data is not there. The only data available would be compliance data which is of no use to you. Its only value is to your DME provider as proof you are using your PAP for them to get their reimbursement from your insurance.

Hey Terry,

Right now I'm using a Mirage Quattro as well (medium) and the leaks are mostly at my nose area. Only very rarely are they anywhere else. I do have the top of the mask pretty tight (I get red marks on nose/cheeks sometimes because of it). The dial setting is as close to my face as it will allow. I might just need to change the position of the machine.

Jackie, just on the leaks, what type of mask do you use and where are the leaks coming from i.e. top of the nose into your eyes or out the side of your mouth? I use a Mirage quattro FFM and I got down to hardly any leaks except from the top of the nose into my eyes, I changed the dial setting on my mask and tightened the top straps slightly and haven't had a leak since. Depending on which mask you use give that a try.

Jackie, have you tried mask liners they seem to help as well, also have the hose coming from above your head it helps the gravity of the mask stay up instead of pulling down. You may need to change the dial settings a bit at a time till you get it right. It all depends on the shape of  your face. Have you also tried different sizes of the mask, maybe a small may help. Also I put all my gear on then plug in the hose then turn it on. that way I can get it ready before the air starts coming in, some people go the other way. Finally do you use a chin strap, I do even though I have a ffm, it is recommend that it goes under the mask straps but I put mine over. Let me know how you go.
