Been using my auto cpap for 3 wks. and 3 days. Only 2 nights out of that time I have slept maybe

3-4hrs. I usually wake up in 1 1/2 - 2hrs. then can't get back to sleep. I have to keep it on 4 hrs. a night to comply for Ins. to pay. I cant lay with this full face mask on for a couple hrs. after waking up it drives me nuts plus the air is so cold on my face ! Any help out there ????

I see what you mean, Mike C.  Darlene, Tyler posted a link in his post to an unproven product that is for sale.  Sometimes this is done by someone who receives money for hits to the website from his links, or the person has a financial interest in the product. There is no research provided on this web page, only testimonials.

Oh Ok I'm new at this site..Thanks Mike and Mary.

Darlene ..

You might want to try covering the hose with something. You can find hose covers on ebay, cpap.com, amazon. If you're handy with a needle or sewing machine, you could even make it yourself.  I have this same problem.. the heater on my machine is working but by the time it hits my face, it's cold. In the summer, I don't mind. In the winter - I don't like it.

You've only been on CPAP a short time. Maybe try a different mask? Sometimes you need some small adjustments and time to let your body become accustom to the therapy.

If the water is barely moving, perhaps you need to dial up the humidifier setting?

Thank you Jackie I turned up the humidifier and it seem to help.

Has anyone tried melatonin to help with sleep...what strength and coments would be helpful.

Darlene, I have tried Melatonin and it didn't really help me but it is mainly used to get your sleep cycle back into sequence. I found Valerian Forte as the best for relaxing and assisting with sleep. It is a herb, not addictive and your wake up fresh. Everyone is different and react to sleep aids differently. You need to try them and see how you go. They are much safer that prescpition sleep medication. I found with both that for me they start to wear off after a couple of months and you need to take a break then restart.

from what i read on line the dose should be very small,I cut a 3MG in half. info also said to take it 2 wks then take a break from it before taking it again. it said to up the dose if it doesnt help every few days ??

I have used it for over 12 years. I take 2 pills at 3MG each an hour before bedtime. NO side effects for me and very much helps me to get drowsy.

Thank you terry !!
