ResMed Liberty Mask
Trying new ResMed Liberty mask tonight. Supposed to help with mouth leaks since it's got nasal prongs and something that covers the mouth. We'll see how it goes. Have heard mixed reviews.

Mike keep us posted. Like all masks what is right for you and does wonders for your sleep will be the next persons nightmare. I learned that one early on in treatment.
If you do tweak it or other fixes due to necessity, please post those as well.

The ResMed Liberty didn't work well for me. I guess i should have known it wouldn't because the Mirage Swift II nasal pillows system didn't work for me either, and this is similar to that (nasal prongs) plus a part that covers the mouth. The nasal prongs were really difficult for me to get to seal properly even while awake, and then once I went to sleep they completely became undone, so much so that i heard the leaking when I woke up during the night. I took the large nasal prongs. Maybe I'll give the medium prongs a try tonight. But I think I'm going to have to find a way to use my trusty old nasal mask while controlling my mouth leak somehow.

You might try the Hybrid. It is similar to the Liberty but there are those that prefer one over the other.

i saw that my leak rate was off the charts with the Liberty. I'm going to try to manage with my Activa nasal mask, which i like very much, but where my leak is slightly too high.

Mike I have been using the Liberty mask since last June, I used to use the Hybrid mask before I got the ASV machine but I get better data with the Liberty ( lower AHI) and since then I have let my beard grow out and the Hybrid doesn't work with long whiskers because of the chin piece! I also modified the mask a bit to keep the nose pillows in place with the high pressures! My average pressure with the ASV is usually between 12.0 and 12.6, but it will often go up to 25cm many times a night to prevent an apnea from occuring! Anyway I like the mask, when I sleep my facial muscles relax to much and even with a chin strap the air leaks out my mouth with a nasal mask, I can not stand a full face mask as I can't tolerated the pressure on the bridge of my nose that all of them seem to cause! So the Liberty or the Hybrid is the mask for me! I might note that, I think the Hybrid is a much more comfortable mask, and the nasal pillows are much softer and easier on the nose, I also had to mod it for the high pressures though! My mod is posted for both the masks on several of the other forums! Anyway I hope it works for you, let us know what you think of it

White Beard, I'm interested in how people modify their masks. My favorite mask is the Activa, but i'm getting a little bit too much leak with it, so maybe there's a modification I can make so it's more leak-proof?

As with many in the cpap forums, I found the Liberty Mirage mask by resmed to have a pretty poor fit, since it curves very little to hug the face. Further, when I contacted Resmed about this, their rep, who did respond quickly, pretty much told me "tough luck" and offered no support, despite the rather high price (and high markup) of this mask. Later learning that Resmed price fixes their products to remain high, blocking them on auction sites, doesn't do much to give faith in them as a company either. I've had similar poor support from them on their other products. Overall, Resmed products are best avoided. The Innomed/Hudson/Respiron Hybrid mask (sold on Amazon for 99 bucks) is cheaper AND better than the Liberty Mirage "hybrid" facemask from Resmed.
