Tonight will be my 3rd night on CPAP and my second brand of mask.  Now on nasal pillows which I tolerate but the headgear just does not fit.  Uncomfortable and will not stay in place.  Tired making more tight and then loosening.  When I was fit at the DME company I had thought they would measure my face perhaps to see what I should wear.  This did not happen.  She recommended a nasal mask the 1st day and it really hurt around my nose.  Then the second day she told me to "pick out what I wanted".  Well, I sure don't know anything about CPAP even though I am a nurse.  The second device doe snot fit either.  Comes very close to my lower eyes and also did not stay in position well.  Many leaks.  The tubing was in the way~I was wishing it went straight up the front like some I have seen.  What does one have to do to get a well fitting mask or headgear?  I have searched the internet and feel like I alone have to solve this.  Should I get another DME company?  I really want this to work and am anxious for a solution of some kind.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I felt that way just holding it in my hand.  The lightness made me happy.  I tried it on a little while ago (not quite as much fun as trying on new clothes!) and turned the machine.  The only thing I seemed to notice (& I may be wrong) was that somehow it felt like less air blowing through. And that "trial" was SO comfortable.  I am almost looking forward to bedtime tonight.  Kind looks like you are going scuba diving with it on!!!   :)     Wish I was at the beach~instead in the mountains.
Sounds great.  I would love it if my quest has ended.  I was showing some of the other nurses I work with the new "mask".  (it's amazing how many people one knows that have sleep apnea and use CPAP.  They just never "owned up to it" until I told them about me.)  ANyway, they were amazed at the sleekness and lightness.  Then when I told them my machine was just about silent they all felt like it was time to up grade their equipment. Hope you do well on night 5 as I start night 1.  Have been on CPAP a total of 4 nights, today the 5th.  I feel much more hopeful now!
Good Morning!  The Swift LT is awesome!   What a difference. ANd what a relief to find something that seems to work.
Ok good to hear you found a solution and are waking up your friends too (not by snooring but by hooting about the great mask you found) Good sleep,Chris
You know what~I did not even snore during my 2 sleep studies! I can't say enough good about this headgear/pillows!
Your were so right!   The Swift LT for her is fantastic.  Not that I love having to use CPAP but this I can live with.  I should/could do a TV commercial for them!

Mine felt the same at 1st, with the low air, but it took less than 1 hour to never look back as it became like my own skin. In about 2 months of CPAP I never felt like I did with this mask. If I end up having to NAIL my mouth shut, I will. I will never ever, EVER part with this. I don't see how any other mask survives in the marketplace after this....

Ginny, I hope you are getting some comfort with the Swift LT. I've used the Mirage Swift I & II, Mirage Swift LT and currently the Mirage Swift FX.

Basically, the Swift LT has the same duel-walled silicone nasal pillows as the FX. The nice feature about the LT is the clip on top so you can run the hose up over your head. I found it works better than in front laying on the bedding, because for some reason, the Swift LT seems to pull down, because of the weight and gravity, for me, when used that way. Sometimes the problem with all these masks is to find the best way to lay the hose up over your head and to one side, to give yourself enough slack to move around while not weighing the nasal pillow assembly down or to one side. I loop my hose around a small lamp on the bed stand, to a chair, where the machine is. It gives me enough slack. I can't yet find the hose in front of me on the blanket works as well, it pulls down, like I said.

Lately, I'm getting water in the nasal pillows, so have to set humidity down, it changed a lot in 2 days, as we have rainy conditions here.

Hope this helps., G.

Thank you for your input.  So far I have the Humidity set the highest.  We are having very dry weather.  But if I get some "rain fall effect" I will now know to turn it down.  I love (well, not love but...) the hose up the front of my head.  I have a towel on my headboard and run it over that to the small table next to the bed the machine sits on. I like how easy it is to clean the pillows. It is by far the best of the 3 I have tried so I am sticking with it unless in the future

something better comes along!   Ginny

bump
As in "bump" in the road or "bumps" on face caused by face mask?   :)
It's my understanding that you "bump" a thread to keep it active on the forum, to move it back to the top of the list again.  I could be way off base.
Last night for the first time I was able to reapply the mask in the dark.  I had to remove it as my nose was itching.  I fought ignoring the itch as long as I could and finally broke down. Except for some nights with bad eye leaks it is getting better.  :)

For right now your life does revolve arround cpap.I am sure you have applied many bandages use that knowledge and bandage material to customise your head gear. Pad a cheek has many helpful bits. Like new shoes some need adjustments to make them not pinch or fall off. The dme works for you .Some comunicate better than others. You have never said I can not bandage that wound, their is a solution. Good Sleep,Chris
