I don't think many of us know esactly why we have sleep apnea. I have never been examined by an ENT, that is my next step if my numbers haven't improved in a couple of months.
Be careful of that sore on your nose it really needs to heal even if you need a few days off the mask. Talk to the doctor or Medical Provider and explain the problem, see if they can recommend a new mask. These sores can get very bad and with the continued pressure can be hard to heal. If it's not too bad you can pad your nose with a bandaid or two, or put moleskin on the mask itself. I had to change to a FitLife Total Face Mask for just that reason. I still have a scar on my nose and can't take any pressure there.

Good Luck

cheryl, not being a thin woman and having used full face masks since I have been on the machine. I couldn't recommend a mask.. I am on BiPAP my self and don't quite remember how straight CPAP worked , well I do believe it is set at one pressure level so the pressure is eight whether you are inhaling or exhaling. If that is causing you problems see if you have some expiratory relief setting on your machine- that would mean the pressure would go down when you exhale. Talk to your medical equipment provider or your doctor. If the eight pressure is too hard for you to exhale against perhaps you need another kind of machine, or maybe yours can be adjusted.
Good luck, Mary Z.

You might as well relax, cheryl. It can take a while to get everything right. Still, I appreciate your enthusiasm and determination. I have only been on for 26 months myself.
