I'm surprised I haven't found those 2 resources by now. I'll definitely check them out tonight, before I go MD shopping tomorrow.
Thanks! :-)

Hey, good news!!! It took me all day, but I found a clinic. Turns out it's an Internal Medicine group practice, but looks like about 80 % of the MDs are sleep certified. I've talked to a # of people with whom I've worked in the medical community here, and they all agree it's a good place to go, that they do education, etc., and they're not hard to access. I've got my fingers crossed. It's not far from where I live either. I'm gonna ask for an initial consult only. My family doc told me there's a doc at this particular clinic who's not sleep certified but that would help me get settled with a good fit. I'm gonna call him tomorrow and set up a consultation appointment to see who he recommends. Cross fingers!

Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm starting to believe I haven't actually lost my mind! I'm in Indianapolis--will check to see if I can find a sleep clinic. I'm on an active hunt today!! Don't want to see eval neurologist again if I can avoid it. May have to for ins. purposes. I'll find out. Do you know of anyone in Indianapolis that you'd refer me to?
Susan McCord Thanks again! :-)

I'm glad to see an MD with interest in apnea. I have a lot of concern that I have YET to be referred to a sleep MD for follow-up. Was diagnosed with severe OSA about 5-6 weeks ago. Have lousy follow-up with DME--they were extremely helpful till I was equipped, encourage me to call, etc. Now my tech won't even return the 3 phone calls I've made for machine info. I'm scheduled for a f/u with neurologist who sent me for sleep study--I don't know her. She did my eval, but my cardiologist referred me to her for eval. She's not a sleep specialist. How assertive should I be in getting transferred to a sleep specialist? I've been having significant problems with congestion vs. very runny nose and have, just in the past 2 days, gotten a halfway reasonable sleep accomplished at night. If it weren't for SleepGuide, I think I'd have been certifiably nuts by now. Is this as $$-driven a business as it appears to be? Everyone was SO concerned while I was in the testing process--lots of phone calls to check on me, easy access to medical system--now, not so much. Anyway, I'm not here to gripe to you about what's past--I just need to know how to move forward. I really feel I need medical care, especially in these initial stages when I'm more symptomatic with side effects than I'm interested in tolerating over a long haul. I understand there's a sometimes long adjustment time with treatment. But jeez, I feel worse than I did before I was diagnosed. I've only been out of my house one time in the past week. That's nuts!!!
I'll appreciate any input from you. Thanks.

Welcome to the Sleepguide community.

We are a group of patients and professionals that are interested in sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can contribute to a number of health issues, that if not treated can lead to serious consequences for those that have sleep apnea.

We work together to help those that are struggling with their therapy to find solutions to their issues that they may have. Various treatment options are available, with cpap/apap therapy probably being among the least invasive for those with severe sleep apnea.

Please feel free to join in the discussions and participate in the forum.
