There is a tech on another site that was fighting insomnia issues for quite some time. Dr. after Dr. could find no way to help her. One day the medical director at her lab noticed that she put splenda in just about everything she drank. He directed her to stop. In less than 24 hours she was sleeping throught the night.

Interesting.

I like Splenda over other sweetners -- Sweet and Low has the cancer risk and the aspartame gives my stomach fits.

I recently have begun to use Stevia. I don't use sweetners very often since I don't bake much anymore.
I had the same problem. I lost so much sleep that I was delusional.

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff Sadly, the package doesn't have to say Splenda, or diet, to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it!

A lot of people, including myself, have gotten/are getting sick from it.

Many people don't get any symptoms at all

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it. I went to several doctors. I had a dozen different tests. I was told that I had a number of different problems. I was on different medication for many years.

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is a class of chemicals called organochloride. Organochlorides are typically poisonous.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air.

It is crazy that this stuff was actually discovered by scientist trying to make a better insecticide. Thanks for the sites bobby
Well there goes another one down. I didn't realize it had so many side effects. I know that Equal gave me fits -- although it was suppose to be "safe" as well.

I think sometimes we are killing ourselves -- with all the chemicals we add to our environment, food, etc. I know that we have a longer life span than the pioneers -- but at what cost?
It seems more and more are getting diagnosed with asthma, attention deficits, hyperactivity, etc. Kids are maturing faster these days and more babies are having babies.

Look at the drugs that have been taken off the market due to side effects --

we are our own worst enemy.
wow. I'll have to pass this info on to my family. Thanks!
Yikes! I am totally addicted to the little pink packets...Sweet 'n Low. I tried to get off of it, and went to Stevia, but I really hate the after taste. I guess I will go cold turkey and just drink my decaff tea straight-up. Ok..... I am NOT giving up my morning cup of coffee with HALF N HALF.

Thanks for all the articles and great links!

Straight Stevia does have a nasty after taste. We use Truvia which has erythritol, a 100% naturally occuring sweetener plus rebiana (Stevia plant). Tastes almost exactly like sugar and looks like sugar. I even put it on my kids pancakes when she does not want syrup. She doesn't know the difference!

I'm also very leery of sugar substitutes. seems as if there's a groundswell of nostalgic feelings over real sugar. anyone seen the new Pepsi Throwback ad campaign? for a limited time only, Pepsi is releasing a version of its cola with natural sugar instead of the high fructose corn syrup i guess they usually use. sad but true that natural sugar is more of an exception than the rule.
