I'd like to get a sense of what other disorders people are suffering from other than Sleep Apnea. Sleep Apnea usually causes a lot of other problems.

I found out recently that i am prediabetic.  I think that if i had gone another few years without treating OSA, i would have been a full blown diabetic by now.

Male, 57 yrs old: Diabetes (Actos, metformin, lantus: 80 units/day), back/hip problems (I use a walker to get around), BPPV, leg sores, chest pains (Dr. says caused by arthritis in heart chamber area). HBP is controlled.
Diagnosed with severe OSA after undergoing a sleep study in July, 2010. Have had high blood pressure which has been somewhat controlled with 5 different blood pressure meds. Also have had anxiety attacks for many years which almost always occurred at night after waking from sleep. Have been taking a low dose of Xanax 4 times a day. Started using a ResMed Series 9 CPAP with a humidifier and full face mask around the 15th of August and am sleeping much more soundly and have not experienced any more panic attacks. Still have not experienced a drop in my blood pressure but have been assured it will improve over time.
Fibromyalgia symptions, chronic bronchitis, allergies and asthma....
MY OSA lead to pulmonary hypertension, I was also diagnosed with diabetes around the same time frame and have COPD (non-smoker) that no one is able to explain to me how I got. So my lungs are in bad shape as well. The diabetes went undiagnosed for probably five years as and the OSA more like ten years as I think back about the symptoms and signs that I didn't seek help about.

Hi-- I have adult onset asthma and am slightly hypothyroid. In addition, I recently had surgery for a hernia and some of my reading on OSA suggested that digestive tract problems and hernias were common among people diagnosed with OSA. Am wondering if others have found that as well?
as usual, I have over elaborated on my answers.. but I TOO.. have had problems with digestive. I have had to undergo an EGD at least once a yr.. for strictures of the esophagus..told I have a hiatal hernia ( sp)..and diverticulitis. I have managed to go almost 2 yrs w/out an EGD now tho'..unsure why. I can't swallow pills and have to crush everything I take.

I have high blood pressure that was ignored by my primacy doc for several years. I now have LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy). This really pissed me off because if the doc would have listened to me when I voice my concerns about the high BP when it started, it could have been prevented. Now I have to take BP medication the rest of my life.

I don't really know what physical problems can be directly linked to the OSA. I can pretty much guarantee all of the problems have been made worse by not being able to sleep and heal up properly.

I was just diagnosed with a squamous cell carcenoma in/on my chest after a biopsy last week. I'm having another surgery next week. Hopefully the cancer is encapsulated and they can cut it all out.
I have fibromyalgia, allergies/allergic asthma, chronic sinusitis, Raynaud's, peripheral neuropathy, osteoarthritis in all joints, OSA on both back and side sleeping positions, RLS, hypothyroidism. and gastric reflux. No depression, but making this list didn't make me feel very good. I still work fulltime in a stressful job.
besides the sleep apnea i also have copd (i tell people "with most people breathing is a habit, with me its more of a hobby"), hypo thyroid and had most of my thyroid removed (with reaccuring threats of cancer), could stand to lose 100+ pounds, arthritis in lower back, kidney stones, and i am sure i am forgetting something
I HAVE FIBRO MYALGIA AND CHRONIC FATIGUE. WELL THEY ARE CONNECTED TO THE SLEEP APNEA PROBLEMS IS ANYONE'S GUESS.
