Qualified for Cpap Aug 25, 2010

Pressure 8

Have tried full face = hurts when sleep on side = I am allergy challenged (dust, mites, trees)  congested at times.

tried nose pillow = wanted to be able to read in bed = can't imagine sleeping with it forever = don't like things up nose

Today am picking up & trying Ultra Mirage™ II Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear

There are too many choices out there - I am comparing different brands, I just don't want to wake up in the night fiddling with a mask.

Thanks,

Sandra S

Yes Sandra this is the pillow that I use. It comes white a white fitted removable cover although now I find it easier just to use an ordinary pillowcase - they work just as well and are easier to wash. I hope you keep at it until you find what works. I had great doubts 5 months ago but realised I had to do something when my sleep test showed approx. 100 OA per hour and now I can't believe that I can stay fully awake ALL day.
I would also add that I found that I needed to use nose protection with the Quattro and I am very, very happy with the Comfort Care Sleep Pad.
Hope this helps.
I have the Mirage Quattro Full Face and find it the most comfortable. I have a hard time using the nasal mask or the nasal pillows. The nasal pillows really irritate me nose. With the nasal mask I wake up and my throat and mouth dried out and in pain.

I am trying the quanttro tonight -- need to buy the pillow asap - rep at study said the medium I have looks too big. Susan what size do you have, what lets me know which size I need? Is OA the # times you woke up before?

Hi Sandra, yes I use the medium but I also bought a Liberty in a large (but my nose hurts too much with the nasal pillows - I kept getting sores). I also use a Remzzs with the mask and for most of the time that has been a medium to match the mask, but for the last 3 weeks I have used a large liner with a medium mask and find the liner less noticable. When I first started using the Quattro no one told me about the possibility of getting a sore nose bridge and it almost made me give up - but now it is not a problem at all by taking preventative measures. Also when I first started using it I had "grooves" down my face each morning but now after working out the tightness of the mask I don't have any signs of mask use when I wake up (but all this took several months). The OA readings were before CPAP and now most nights the reading ranges from nil to 1 or 2 each night. which I am pleased about. My machine is an auto and is set from 8 - 18, so it's a high setting but it all works well.
Good luck tonight
Susan
Would I need both of these? The Sleep Comfort Care Pad &/ or RemZzzs CPAP mask/nasal liners

Also JCPenney sells the Cpap pillow & I can even use a store coupon!

Another dumb question.......How do you know you breath through your mouth. Last night I suffered through wearing the Quattro - I don't like it -- I do like my nasal mask --- that I do know...the clips are different but with practice I can master this. ..........to be continued.....Sandra

I use a full face mask because I have allergies and breath through my mouth ( I have come to almost love my Quattro mask!). The Contour pillow is very comfortable and I can easily turn from side to side but I am beginning to find that I now don't seem to stir at all for 5-7 hours now that everything seems to be working.
