Naomi, I don't know if you are taking your mask off in your sleep or just aren't able to tolerate it for the whole night. Sometimes we suggest wearing it at times other than bedtime to just get used to having it on- while reading, listening to music, or watching TV. Some people may need a mild tranquilizer to help them relax enough to keep it on all night. If you're waking up in the middle of the night with it off, just put it back on and keep trying. Sometimes it takes a while. Just keep at it.
Don't blame you for getting frustrated. It can be tough.

Niomi I was that way at first too. Mostly I got serious about CPAP after I had heart bypass. I sorta didn't think the whole CPAP thing worked for me (and I found out, my machine was defective). When you "get it" that this is a critical part of your health, its easier.

I got used to my mask by using Ambien for 3-4 nights. Now it's routine, without Ambien.

Plus, I know it might sound silly, but I check my numbers nearly every morning , on this new data capable machine.

One of the numbers is hours used. I don't want a 2-4 hour night on there pulling down the average.

Twice, I put the mask back on, after getting up to say high to the bathroom, but forgot to press the button to turn on the machine. Now Im radical to use it correctly, for my health, AND for the record.
Thanks Mary, I have tried wearing it to get used to it. My biggest problem is that it itches. I have tried the cpap cream, and the liners. Neither seem to help. I do put it back on when I wake up and find it off, but after several months I'm still taking it off in my sleep.
You may want to try a different mask. What type are you using now?
A resmed mirage soft gel
I'd recommend trying a Swift. This is a nasal pillow type of mask. There are a few different styles to choose from. Check them out. This type of mask is smaller than what you have and may be more tolerable.
