At our local AWAKE meeting last night, the Respironics rep there said dryness was the number 1 complaint among CPAP users.   I didn't expect that -- thought it would be mask leak or mask fitting or mouth breathing.

My own #1 complaint is mouth breathing.  What is everyone's else's?

check out ebay. Just type in softie strap. They help because they are made up of a very soft material that is padded. Check them out. Everyone should have something like this when using a mask. I don't know mask manufacturer's don't make better straps or include something like this with all masks in the future?

The marks that the straps leave? they stay on for a few hours. I am just concerned that there will come a point to where they are permanent indentions.
I have a difficult time falling asleep. It is uncomfortable and I am aware of it. It has been a few years and I am still not used to it.. Once I fall asleep and get woken up due to snoring, I can wear it and not be as uncomfortable.

ANy solutions?

I got the autoPAP machine a couple of months ago I love it. Having the air flow adjust to what you actually need is wonderful I rarely have to deal with dryness. I wish I would have been able to get one of these machines when I first started using a CPAP machine.
My mask gets hot. ..now have Fan on high blowing on face.
patients complain of vanity ...the way they look
My own #1 complaint is RAIN!!!
I just cannot even wear my mask(s). I have he humidifier and yes, there is still dryness. Maybe that is why I rip it off. After a year and 2 months I should be able to wear this by now.

My biggest problem is gas. When talking to the people about it they said take Beano, which didn't help. Their next solution was I would get use to it. Well I haven't and it has been 2 years. Does anyone know of anything I can do?

in the last 4 month i am almost Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Caffeine Free, I have no gas, sleep better, lost 20 pounds. the way to do it is drinking Dandelion root tea instead of coffe (with Camomile at night), drinking Soy milk (unsweetend) and stop eating bread, cakes and so. There are so many Gluten Free products today that it is amazing.
I hope it will help.
I have the full-face mask. I had dryness in the beginning, the dry mouth, chapped lips and all .. and it turned out to be just too much pressure, air blowing when I didn't need it that high. I did get the "titratron" machine where it just blows as high as I need it when I need it. They had it on 20 and most times I only needed between 9 and 16. It's even lower now. Also, I think some of it was the leaks too, because it was eventually blowing the mask off my face. Since I started using the RemZzz cloth mask liners, that has eliminated the leaks. And for gas, I had that too. We figure it out it was just too much air .. it kept me bloated for hours every day. Getting the titraton machine has helped in all 3 areas.
I have been using a CPAP machine for about 6 years. The only problem that I had in the past was the mask leaving marks on my face. I solved that problem about a year ago by using the cream that is sold for that purpose. I love my machine and could not seleep without it.
my biggest problem is the noise from the machine and the mask -- it has caused the need for separate bedrooms for my wife and i and that cant be good in the long term - but dying in my sleep is not a good option either . other than the noise it's the head gear and can't someone integrate a good chin strap into the whole thing
Perry, what cream is that? I could use sometthing to get rid of the marks on my face.
