At our local AWAKE meeting last night, the Respironics rep there said dryness was the number 1 complaint among CPAP users.   I didn't expect that -- thought it would be mask leak or mask fitting or mouth breathing.

My own #1 complaint is mouth breathing.  What is everyone's else's?

The marks that the straps leave? they stay on for a few hours. I am just concerned that there will come a point to where they are permanent indentions.
Me too!

Air leaks! I'm still struggling with them.
Skin breakdown and sores from the mask, either my nose or my cheek.
No problems from dryness.
My biggerst problem is the headgear - if I get a petitie mask, it fits my face, but the headgear slides all over the place unles I tighten it so tight I have strap marks for hours affter I get up. It takes hours to get the mask to set properly and I sleep well. But then I have to get up - and only a few hours of good sleep, because it takes too long to get settled.I can't go to bed at 7pm, just to be asleep by midnight....
Mask leaking is my number one problem......Even with a proper fitting mask I get a leaks when a move and air shoots right into my eyes waking me up. Happens about twice a week.

My biggest issue is getting the mask to fit comfortably, while at the same time minimizing the leaks. I can get the leaks down to zero, of course, if I tighten the mask all the way, but then it will be so uncomfortable that I'll never sleep!
Mine would have been the leaks but I found a solution to that. I have the full-face mask and I ordered some liners from RemZzza. You can go to their site: www.RemZzzs.com and order a sample or a complete order of a full box. They aren't cheap, rather pricey but they have been worth it to me. No more leaks. They are also trying to get a "medical billing code" so if you have insurance, they would be able to be covered under insurance. Check out their site.

My biggest problem is gas. When talking to the people about it they said take Beano, which didn't help. Their next solution was I would get use to it. Well I haven't and it has been 2 years. Does anyone know of anything I can do?

Try 1 teaspoon of baking soda (Baking Soda NOT Baking Powder) in half a glass of water, just before bed... Works for me, but check with your own doctor first.
I HAD the same problem at first and I finally went back to the place where I got my CPAP machine. They had it set at 20; which was wayyyyyy too much air for most of the night. I knew there was such a thing called a "titration machine" ... which is also an auto-something ... and the pressure then is what you actually need. There were times when I needed it at 18 in the beginning but now I am mostly at 13. When there was that full blast at 20, I had horrible gas and bloating. At first, they said I needed as much as 18 so they set it at 20. Why fill you up with air when it isn't necessary. Check that out; that might be all you need.
The CPAP liners that are made out of cloth; help with the indentions so they don't last for hours; they stop the leaks; you don't have to have the headgear as tight and it's a whole lot more comfortable. The RemZzzs liners at www.RemZzzs.com.
My biggest complaint is mask fit , which creates red marks on my nose. I would like to see more "Pillow" under the nose options vs just the over the entire nose or the buds you put up your nose. I use a comfort lite by respironics. Perhaps you could pass that along to the rep.
