I'm new to this site. I found it by accident. Let me hasten to inform you that I am not a dentist or physician. I am a professor. I wanted to follow up on David Lawler's comment about the OSB. I have had migraines for 36 years, have had every treatment from acupuncture to Zanadine (muscle relaxant). The migraines usually came twice a week, and lasted 1-3 days. You can see how this would define my life. I got the OSB (oral systemic balance) dental device from Dr. Lawler, and have not had a migraine in 3 months. I'm one of the people Dr. Lawler has videotaped. All I can say is, I hope the dental and medical communities embrace this research so others can benefit as I have.

For almost a full year I have been arguing with the veterans administration trying to get supplies for my c-pap after moving my care to NY. Well my persistance paid off and I found out why I couldn't get any supplies. It seems no recored of my needing help followed me from PA. To insure everything was being done properly I had another sleep study last week. I am awaiting the results now but I am sure they will find I need a c-pap and I will be able to get supplies. Unfortunatly due to their delaying things the machine is broke and no longer switches pressures as I sleep. I am currently getting only half the benefits from the machine but at least it is something.

Mike, I wonder if the kids in this study were checked for sleep apnea? There is no mention of it.

Mike, I think you're my Guardian Angel. You did not have to again send my query out to everyone with a special note. That is just incredibly kind. My brain is actually exploding a bit from all the information that has just *started* to flood in. How can one poster (Tony Huff) speak so derisively, so negatively, so frighteningly about this surgery, and another give it relative praise? According to Dr. Park, "Despite these complications, the vast majority (94%) were happy with the overall results [of MMA] and would recommend the procedure to family and friends." I don't yet know how to reconcile this information...but I'm glad to have it. And I haven't committed to anything yet.

Mike, I would like your recommendation on a good data capable cpap machine. I have been using the ResMed lightweight for years. Lately I have been so sleepy during the day. I know my mask leaks. I am going to try the Swift FX if I can get a hold of one. I really need help with the machine. When I had my sleep study, the insurance company wouldn't approve a study to see what the machine should be set for. So they had to guess and put it at 12 cm. I would appreciate your help or help from other members. Thank you.

Thanks for the info. I will try to make it and may drag my mother along as well. She's a RN and a clinical coordinator of a sleep lab and pulmonary rehab.

That is an excellent and fundamental point. Would you want to work for a company that is resisting new technology and advances in communications, marketing and distribution? Pity their employees.

Mike, In a few years, it is going to be interesting to look back and see how far off base we were in our thinking about SA.
