I had the re-titration study. The entire study was done w/o 02 supplementation. Unfortunately, I only slept about 3 hours. So, they ordered a "by guess and by gosh" IPAP 17, EPAP 8 pressure adjustment w/no indication for Pressure Support or 02 supplementation.
My provider changed the pressure settings for me on 05 Feb 10. This is NOT working out. I am not scheduled for an appointment w/the sleep doctor until 23 Feb 10. I called the sleep lab yesterday (Tuesday, 09 Feb) and told them it wasn't working out. I'm sleeping as badly and waking feeling as bad as I did before starting CPAP in Oct 06. I FAXed them the data from the first 4 nights at above new setting. I was told the FAX was put in my file but that the doctors won't be in again until 23 Feb 10 which is when my appointment is scheduled.
I'm sorely tempted to just tell them to FAX the re-titration results to my original sleep doctor and send him the data for the last 5 nights myself. I have about had it. There are times I have my doubts about the accuracy of this VPAP Auto's data reporting the last few months. It sometimes drops off data for the last 1/3 of the night. There were a couple of times there was a break in some data and not in others during the exact same time frame.
On the other hand, the data accuracy or not doesn't have a d*mn thing to do w/the way I feel - which is L-O-U-S-Y. I am back to needing a nap every day. Later than usual, granted, but still flat running out of steam and exhausted and have no trouble falling asleep when I lay down for the nap. The naps usually last 1 1/2 to 2 hours, right in line w/one complete sleep cycle and then I waken. But no data indicating WHY I woke such as an apnea. The only improvement has been a cessation of the night sweats.
CPAP improved my sleep, this VPAP Auto improved my sleep - until things started going downhil early last year after a COPD exacerbation.
I've been sorely tempted to just turn my 2L of 02 supplementation back on but have been advised to hold off on doing that until they can find my best EPAP setting, that at the PROPER IPAP and EPAP settings I probably do NOT need 02 supplementation.
I've been sorely tempted to just say to h*ll w/the sleep doctors and set IPAP at IPAP 15.4 and EPAP 10.4 but debating whether I want to tick off the doctors and the sleep lab by doing so.
I am enclosing the statistics from the last 5 nights and the detailed data from last night. What do you suggest before I blow my cool and cut my nose off to spite my face??
