HI everyone,

I got a copy of the doctor's report on my first sleep study, along with a copy of the graph summary of the results.

I can figure out some of the report, but I'm unfamiliar with some of the numbers and terms.

Is there a reference or glossary of terms for these reports? I'm particularly interested in how my results compare to "average" results.

I know I could ask the doc who did the report for more info but, as is typical, he read the study results and reported on it, but I've never met him.

Any help or info would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Andy -- you can try figuring out some of the information from this glossary of terms

Better yet, you can redact your name from the report and post it here for help figuring things out.
Andy, Most important thing to know on your report is your AHI- Apnea Hypopnea Index. This tells you how many events (of apnea) you had per hour. It's basically an average. Anything between 5-15 is considered mild. 15-30 moderate. 30 and up severe apnea. Next thing u may want to know is your Oxygen level(O2). The report should tell you what ur lowest O2 was during the study. It should never be below 90. If it was it's ok as long as ur treating ur apnea. BTW, I'm a sleep tech and it's amazing how many pts i see that the doctors don't go over their test results with them. I always go over everything with my patients.
