I don't know why, but I'm unable to reply to bayoulady's post about getting a mask labeled, "not for resale."

With respect, I disagree with Dan & Daniel. We get such masks for a variety of reasons & just toss them in the inventory to avoid the added costs of segregation. We give away far, far more masks than we get as demos, & we just eat the cost of those masks.

I agree that there is an opportunity here for improper behavior, but bayoulady ending up with a mask so labeled is not in & of itself conclusive evidence of DME wrongdoing.

that thread was somehow closed for further response, but i have since re-opened it.
Rock,
I agree with your statement "is not in & of itself conclusive evidence of DME wrongdoing", but it sure raises a many red flags and is "probable cause" to investigate it and the DME's practice. It may turn out to be an inadvertent accident - or it may be the norm for this DME.

If some type of review isn't taken into this type of practice, they have no motivation to discontinue doing it. Then what is their next step - fraudulent distribution of product, counterfeit devices, black marketing of product, etc...?

The first time a person or company is caught is usually not the first time that they have committed the offense. It is but the first time they got caught.
I think you overestimate the problem.

This problem is between the manufacturer and the DME. it is not a customer or patient problem. Truly we should be wondering why the DME did not take the time to properly fit the mask then how they got it. bayoulady ordered a mask. bayoulady got the mask. how do we know that the DME did not get the mask from the vendor to be given to bayoulady. We don't. WITCHHUNT!
JNK, when you buy online does your health insurance reimburse your expenses? Last I heard they do not, so when I encounter folks who forever reason are paying real green money for which they will not be reimbursed, I help them find the product they need online where things cost less. It's been over a year since I checked online vendors. I usually end up sending folks to cpap.com, cpapman.com, 1800cpap.com, etc. Do you have a favorite vendor I should throw into the mix?

Of all the problems with DMEs out there that I've read about, this one ranks low on the list for me. At least someone, somewhere, actually got something she asked for, eventually, from a brick-and-mortar DME. I consider that an exceptional success story, myself, and a rare cause for celebration. That's why I buy online.

The other thread is still closed for me.
