Here is one for you Physicians.
Interesting night to say the least. Approximately an hour after going to bed I awakened.
There was a feeling of gloom or dread. Tried to sit up and could not move. Panic started to overwhelm me.
In just another second the thought “Sleep paralysis” and it had a calming effect. Dozed back off and it happened again. The third time still panic stricken tried to sit up. Well of course couldn’t move. Then what seemed like minutes it wore off. I sat up, got out of bed. Went to bathroom and went back to bed. About two hours later it happened again but a little different. Woke up and thought something was wrong the fear and dread was classic and it wore off quick but, started falling back to sleep going into REM very aware of my surroundings the paralysis reoccurred before complete sleep onset. I recognize that I was headed into sleep onset dreaming because there was a camel in my room. I do not believe it was a hypnogogic hallucination because of the paralysis.
I just came off a 3 day rotation not sleeping more than ten hours in those three days. Took a valium my MD gave me for the very first time since sleep was evading me. Do you think that the excessive tiredness and the valium were the triggers for the cluster of sleep paralysis episodes?
