Even though we're away from home this weekend, i bought distilled water for the cpap humidifier, and was looking forward to a restful night's sleep with my machine. When I went to put the distilled water in, though, I realized I had no humidifier -- i leave out to dry in the mornings, and hadn't put it back in the machine before we left for the weekend. But my wife, the excellent planner that she is, brought her fully intact machine with her and insisted that I use hers since my apnea is more severe -- she's still convinced she doesn't have sleep apnea, but that's a different story. I feel kind of guilty taking hers, but i know my day will be really rough without using the machine, and she feels no different with the machine or without... so i'm going ahead with it.

Have you tried using it without the humidifier? I find in the summer, with our high humidity levels, I don't need the humidifier at all.
Mike,
I carry a large zip-loc baggie in my cpap carry case to which is the perfect size to place the humidifier tub (Resmed 3i) in to prevent water leakage.

I stopped by the pharmacy counter (at my local Wal-Mart) the other day and ask if I could buy a couple of large pharmaceutical bottles for my distilled water. To my surprise they handed me several of the large (400 ml) bottles (the large amber “cough syrup” style) free. Two bottles gives me 3 days of water. These bottles are water tight and perfect for travel. I added a Distilled water label and they are perfect for traveling.
With my m series pro if I run it without the humidifier chamber it's extremely loud. Or do you take apart the humidifier?

Do not run it without the humidifier chamber, unless you take the humidifer clear off. I have done this and just used the apap alone, like it that way as it leaves a littler footprint on my headboard. But this spring I was lazy and left it attached with the dry chamber in the humidifier part. Every once in a great while I check the chamber out to make sure nothing has gotten in it that might be bad (we have had some ants in the house and one night my hose had some of the ants make their way up into the hose -- not very pleasant when you are trying to fall asleep and have a spray of ants hit the inside of your nose and you end up coughing and sneezing -- thank goodness there weren't very many but enough I always blow my hose out before putting it on now.
Oh man...ANTS...that makes my nose itch!!!
got it. i've never just detached the humidifier from the unit. i will try that next time i get into a bind. now i'm home and have all the conveniences of distilled water and humidification nearby, so i'm all set.

If you do take it off, make sure you have the outlet port for the machine with you.
