I just got my new order from my DME. Of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's the wrong order! I have come to expect no better from this DME. It's a given that they always will mess the order up and I'll be on the phone with them tomorrow as usual.

I asked for a small Ultra Mirage. The woman wrote the correct thing down on my bill, some idiot in the shipping department crossed out small and sent me medium because I used to use medium, I had mentioned to the lady who took my order to inform the shipping department but she never followed up so I'll be returning the mask.

I asked for filters. They charged me for the filters. But they sent no filters.

But the following is the big problem and I'm hoping to get information regarding tubing.............I use a tube for my mask (I was using Mirage Quattro and just ordered an Ultra) which has two ridges on one end and three ridges on the other end. This tube has worked fine for me. Last March the DME sent me a tube which had two ridges on both ends and each connector was the same size. This new tube (last March) with some force applied fit my mask and BPAP but the tube connector blew itself off my mask whenever my pressure got too high. I figured that the DME sent me the wrong tube so I put the new tube away and kept using the old tube.

I mentioned this problem to the woman when I called in my new order for June.

Of course the DME sent the same kind of defective tube to me again.

How do I explain what sort of tube I need and I need to explain what sort of tubing I need in a way in which the DME will understand and will (HOPEFULLY!) send me the correct tube. The correct tube will have two ridges on one end, three on the other end and one connector will be slightly larger than the other connector. Is there a name for the tube I need to use and a different name for the tube they've been sending me the last couple of times? A serial number?

Something doesn't sound right here. Standard tubes are the same on both sides. Is it possible for you to upload a digital picture of the ends of the tube you have that works for you?

Without a picture, my best guess is that the tube you are using that works has a connector wedged into one end that isn't really part of the tube - it is part of the mask. Could that explain it?
I don't have the ability to send a digital picture but I can take a picture through my cellphone, send it to my computer and then send it from my computer to your computer, that's the only way.

I got other tubes from the DME which fit and those tubes had three ridges on one end, two on the other and were had slightly different sized connectors but the tube in March and this new tube are different, they are the same on both ends and if I had a connector wedged in (without realizing it) then I would guess that the latest tube would have fit the same as the old kind of tubes fit and the latest tube (March and June) wouldn't have blown off when my pressure went high.

Here are the pictures that BPLink sent:

First, the New Tube:

Now, the Old Tube:

What you are seeing as three ridges on the end with the mask is really two ridges plus the mask itself. The Quattro has a grey-colored "quick-release" adapter on the end of the elbow that allows you to easily disconnect the mask from the tube in case you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and don't want to fuss with clips and straps. The hard grey plastic end on the tube is a piece of the mask. You have to pry that out of the old tube and insert it into the new tube. If you try to connect the clear plastic end of the mask into a tube without the grey connector piece, it will indeed blow off the tube once the air pressure is on.

The DME company sent you the proper tube. What they didn't provide was good instructions on the use of the mask and how it connects to the tube.

Much appreciated, Daniel.

Guess that the DME did SOMETHING right. I just checked and found that the DME sent me another Quattro Mirage Medium and not the Ultra Mirage Small which I ordered. I get after them? They treat me like I'm crazy and they still mess my order up. i don't get after them? they mess my order up.

How do I pry the adaptor out of the old tube?
