I've been using my CPAP religiously without taking a break for at least the past year, so the feeling I have today is really new to me. I'm drowsy. Really drowsy. All day long. And I got more hours sleep last night than usual. Just goes to show how important this treatment is for me.

I have been thinking about your post since it went up. My first thought was total jealously. :>D I thought how nice it would be to feel so great that you would notice not wearing your CPAP for one night. I think that is how it is suppose to be. Maybe you just need to remember how bad it was to enjoy how good it is most of the time.

I do hope that someday I will be able to say the same thing. Most days are just like they were before CPAP, but I haven't been at it that long, so I will not be too big of a whiner until some months down the road.

Good for you Mike!
Did you try sleeping more propped up?

I hate smoking rooms in motel/hotels. My hubby smokes and when he is home the house reeks of smoke. I don't think smokers realize how bad the stench is cause their sense of smell is messed up. At times, when we have stayed in motel/hotels he will ask for a nonsmoking room to appease me and then end up smoking in the bathroom with the vent fan on. I have told him repeatedly not to do this cause anyone that doesn't smoke can smell it later.

I know I will probably make a few enemies -- but all the taxes on cigarettes might get some to stop smoking and that would be a good thing. I know I don't smoke as I watched my parents die any early death due to their addictions to cigarettes and it wasn't pleasant for either of them -- slow and painful. Some of my kids smoke and I hate it when they light up as I know what the damage can do to them.
I used a pretty supportive pillow, but otherwise didn't do anything different.

Ugh, I'm with you sleepycarol. But I don't much care if smokers hate me for my opinion about it. Honestly it would hurt me less in the long run if they'd just walk by and punch me in the face instead of smoke around me. Just a brief exposure to smoke, like passing someone on the sidewalk right outside my office building, leads to a good two week long asthma/bronchitis attack.

I have to believe that they just don't know how horribly their habit affects others. It's like being assaulted everytime I have to walk thru that cloud. I try holding my breath, but because of my asthma I have really crappy lung volume and just can't hold it that long.

BeeAsleep, I hope you can get things set up so you can feel the relief that I do with my cpap. I have an impossible time even sleeping without it. It's really amazing when you get it working for you. I'm so glad you're still trying and haven't given up.
Amott1973, I am still a newbie so I haven't encountered what Mike is talking about with feeling great then not using the CPAP and not feeling so good. Plus I haven't traveled with my CPAP as yet, so I haven't encountered the smoky room with the CPAP problem.

It is so good to read about all the life situations I will encounter with OSA, so I can be prepared and just keep on keepin' on. I am glad that the CPAP works so well for you, your success does give me encouragement to keep going. thanks.

Keep using it. I hear it can help you feel amazing. My brother in Law has his and he says if he sleeps without it he has the suckiest day.
