My wife has been struggling to use CPAP while pregnant, and last night she had a real breakthrough, although she doesn't think so. She went from the nasal pillows LT for Her, which didn't work because of the asymmetry of her nostrils, to the Respironics ComfortLite2. She was able to use it for 4 hours straight, which is something of a record for her. But she awoke feeling as if her nose was "bone dry," and that she was breathing in "really hot air" at points during the night. She has the M Series Pro on a setting of 7-12, ramp starting at 4.0 for 30 mins. Heated humidification setting at 1. Suggestions?

The LPN who delivered my M Series told me that 1 is the lowest humidification setting. The manual recommends a setting of 2. Try a higher number? That should add moisture, which sounds like what she needs.

Just one newbie to another, but I hope it helps.
Good suggestion. If you set it too high, though, you'll get "rain out" or water collecting in the mask. We'll try to bump it up a notch tonight and see what happens.

Sounds like she's off to a good start. Increasing the heat level is definitely the right thing to do. It's interesting that she had the impression of breathing hot air -- most people experience CPAP as really cold air. Don't worry about increasing the heat - it does not make the air warmer. It merely adds more moisture.
last night she took off her "snuggle hose cover" and increased the humidity setting to 2 on the M Series. She got water in her nose. And when she woke up at 5am, she took it off because of the rain out issue and because her nose was feeling as raw and dry as before. She claims she didn't feel the rawness and dryness with the Swift LT for her. I wonder if her problem can be solved with some of that Ayr stuff that people keep raving about. Anyone think so?

try turning the heat off completely. I cant stand warm aer blowing in my face. Makes me feel clausterphobic. If the air is still to warm set the machine on the air conditioning vent to cool the water. Most people prefer the warm air. A small few like it cold. I bet your wife is one of them.
