Dr. Robles posted this on another thread, but i thought it should be broken out on its own thread:
"It is also equally important to share with those who have the diagonosis that CPAP is not about a good night sleep. CPAP is a serious treatment in order to avoid the issues of chronic sleep apnea like pulmonary hypertension secondary to chronic, intermittant hypercarbia and hypoxia which will eventually lead to right sided heart failure and an early death. As a consequence of treating the sleep apnea, you get a good night sleep, or at least a better night sleep than without."

Really Dr. Robles? This was never explained to me and I would be willing to wager 95% of the *PAP patients. I would have considered this information as being pertinent information that needed to be shared with a patient.

This “tidbit” of information is just overwhelming.

Is this information to which the majority of “sleep doctors” don’t know about or is it just they consider the patient to “stupid” to be able to comprehend this pertinent information?

Or could it be that they are just to busy counting their cash from the “cash cow” they have set up and called a sleep lab?

It never ceases to amaze me that it is so difficult to get a respected doctor to ever say anything derogatory toward some of the “quacks” which litter the medical profession. It isn’t until a “physician” kills or maims a person, does anyone ever step forward. When it finally becomes public news, it usually wasn’t the first time, just the most serious.

Based on your quote, every physician who treats a potential *PAP patient and fails to test and disclose this information appears to have been negligent is their sworn oath to heal as well a civilly liable. As with society today, the words they uttered when swearing to their oath were just that – words. Trustworthiness used to be a mainstay of those to which we entrusted our lives. It appears those days are history, falling victim to the crime of greed.
