CPAP Machine Hours per night reading
Hello. I have been using my CPAP machine for about 3 years now, if my recall is correct.
The reading shows about 5600 hours. However, I am curious as to where my machine gets it's reference regarding the Hours per night reading. It is showing that I only use my machine 2 hours per night, when I wear it all night, every night. There does not seem to be any reading or setting for a date or time, so where or what is it's reference?
I do wear my CPAP when and if I take a nap at other times such as Sunday afternoon, or at other times.

Glen, what model and brand of machine do you have, most will have usage and AHI data on the screen. All your data is saved to the simcard in the machine and can be read for you or depending on the machine you have I can point you to free software where you can read the data yourself. If you haven't already done so I would suggest you take your simcard to your sleep specialist to get it read, we really should be having check ups fairly regulary to make sure everything is still going Ok and as our bodies change sometimes our pressures need to be raised or lowered.

Thanks Terry. It's a F&P Sleep Style 600.
No SIM card as far as I know.
They have changed my pressure once. They gave me a spare machine to use for a couple of weeks that was some type of auto-sensing machine.
I just don't understand why my hours per night are reading so low.....

Glen, the software we use does not run on F & P CPAPs, I had a look on the net and it doesn't look like it has a simcard so the data must be inbuilt. The mode button seems to be where you can see some data. I suggest maybe trying the F & P website but would be making an appointment with your specialist to read the data correctly and for a check up if it has been 3 years. I always like checking my data which I do weekly but the most important thing is how you are feeling during the day and whether you still have any SA symptoms.

I have a Phillips Respironic System One Remstar machine. Can I get a simcard for it? I knew nothing about anything when I was diagnosed the summer of 2011 and just took what I was given and did what I was told. Thank God I discovered Sleep Guide!!
I have a secondary problem (sleep maintenance insomnia). I wake after a few hours and have trouble falling back to sleep. I just started following the guidelines in SOUND SLEEP, SOUND MIND by Barry Krakow and they're beginning to make a difference: I'm better able to return to sleep. Still, I'm not really getting up in the morning feeling really refreshed.
It would be wonderful news if you told me that I could get a simcard for my machine. It might help me detect problems and figure out solutions.

Zollistar, please find the website where you can download the data, it says it supports Philips Respironics System One Machines. I use a Resmed so not sure where the Simcard slot is on your CPAP, I have had a look on the net and it looks like it comes out of the back, so the first step is to make sure you have a Simcard slot, then you need to get a Simcard from you CPAP supplier, if all that works, you will need a card reader the same that you use for a digitial camera they cost about $40. Let me know when you have worked out the Simcard and I can help you further.

I'm a non-techie person so I really appreciate guidance.
First, I bet I do have a Simcard slot: I know that my insurer kept track of my CPAP use for the first year via some kind of a card. A tech came by to remove it at the end of my first year. I suppose this was to make sure that it could continue to support the cost of supplies every three months. If I didn't use my CPAP nightly and for at least some stated number of hours, I would have been cut off from the insurance for additional supplies.
Anyway, I'll get in touch with my DME to make sure about the slot and, if I have it, I'll take step one: order the Simcard -- and contact you.

ZolliStar, that's fine, I think we will get there in the end, i think you will enjoy reading the data when you can get to it. I do mine once a week on a Sunday unless I have a real problem and want to review it. This software is pretty easy to run once you have done it a couple of time, so you don't have to be a techie, luckily I do write computer software, training manuals and do computer training for a living so that helps me. I got my sister who has SA onto it as well and she loves looking at her data. I'm on a couple of other sites and one that I'm on Apnea Board has a you tube video on the software and how to read it, you maybe interested, just click on the link.

Dear Terry,
I spoke to my DME and the woman who answered the phone didn't seem to know exactly what I meant. Of course, I lack the vocabulary to explain it.
At any rate, we agreed that there is a place on my machine where there had been some kind of a recording device (since removed).. It recorded my first year CPAP compliance (which was 100%, btw) and had a small antenna apparatus.
That slot is now empty.
The woman is sending me gratis something called an "SD card".
Is that what I'm looking for? And if not, can you suggest where I can buy the right item? She seemed to have no idea what I was talking about, so I "settled" for the SD card, hoping that will do the trick, knowing that it probably won't.

I have a System One machine and yes, it takes an SD card. I also use the sleepyhead software and it works great. I actually copy the files from the SD card onto my computer and then load them into the software. That way I always have the data backed up.
The machine actually has internal memory which keeps the daily summary data. It doesn't keep the detailed flow data unless there's an SD card installed.

ZolliStar, Chris got in before me, yes, that is what you are after, it is like a card that goes into your phone only a little larger, hopefully she will send the right one to fit your machine. Let us know when you has put it in, it should just slide in make sure you put it in with the arrow pointing to the slot. We'll guide you through this whole process so don't worry if you are a absolutely non-techie person, we all are at the start, I'm lucky I write computer programs and do computer training for a living.
When you see if it goes in, the next step will be you will need to buy a card reader, if you don't have one, they are onoes that are used for digital camera's, they cost around $40, but lets get the SD card out of the way first, it should have come with your original purchase. We'll have you reading you data like an expert soon, Terry.
