I broke down and bought battery back up for my machine in view of the weather predicted. Of course, if the power is off more than three nights it will not do any good!

I am so dense when it comes to electrical stuff.   I would need someone to show me what to do!   :0   Bet it's less expensive than what I got PLUS the lasting longer.  Do you live near NC?   LOL

I finally broke down and ordered a C-222 lithium battery  ($399) from CPAP Wholesale online. Looks like I could run my husband's old  Phillips System One without a convertor up to 50 hours. My usual machine, ResMed S9 auto set requires a convertor plus runs a much shorter 27 hours. It looks as though you can travel on a plane with this size of lithium battery.

Good work, at least you've got those nights covered.

Well, it's been over 3 weeks and the C-222 is on back order. Now this week we're expecting a storm and I'm still battery-less! I have the option to go to the Phillips pack, but then I would not be able to convert this to my ResMed, if I don't like using my husband's old Phillips machine. I would just go to Battery Plus, but they insist you call ResMed as to the convertor & adaptor.

CPAPWholesale will send out two C-100 with a piggyback system between the two batteries and I should receive this week. Has any one heard of this system?  Supposedly, at my pressure of 7, I can get 40-45 hours of use.

Do not know about this kind.  Expensive?

CPAP Wholesale offerred the same $399 price as the C-222 as this "product will be unavailable for some time".  Since the C-100 can be piggybacked to another C-100, you have the same hours or more. I'll have to report again once I receive and use the product. Does anyone have experience with this product?

Hi Folks, The storm was quite a wake up call. I had looked at emergency stuff quite a while ago...but thought nah it wont be that bad . I was wrong . By not having at least the 12 volt black box for my resmed left me with no juice and no quick options. If I had had it I could have yanked the car battery, but no that would not have been enough. An adaptor with battery clamps to a cigarette lighter cord is also necessary. I tried a cervical collar and the recliner ...It was not enough . I will be looking in to solar, hand crank, wind, generators for recharging because gas was very difficult to get. My Dme has no disaster supplies or plans....seems like it should be standard info given to all pap ers at set up.Perhaps a disaster protical could be outlined for each different brand of machine and alternate power not an after thought. Not so good sleep,Chris

Once I spoke to my DME company about the same and they did not have any suggestions! How long were you without power?

Hi Ginny, Three days was long enough for me to feel like a complete mess. Was on my way to find a shelter to go to and the power came back. It took about a week before I returned to" normal " Good Sleep,Chris

There must have been lots of folks in this situation on the East coast after Sandy. My doctor did not have any suggestions, either.

The piggyback C-100 will turn on the Phillips system 1 unit. CPAP-Wholesale estimates it will run the unit for at least 45 hours at a 6-7 pressure. The units weigh only 3# and can be used on flights. Thinking I might buy the convertor to I could hook it up to my S9 and a cord to recharge in the car.

Not wanting to go into a period like Chris.

It's interesting that insurance will not cover any back-up despite known problems with severe hypoxia which occurs in my case.
