Side effects of using trazadone and remeron with the sleep apnea????

Hello:

Does anyone out there use sleep aides plus the cpap machine....I went on both trazadone and remeron to help me sleep and stay asleep.....I find I am still tired after using my machine, is it because of my apnea or the combination of all the meds and sleep apnea??? Or will it take some time to feel rested?? I was wondering if I should cut down on my dosage or wean myself off of the remeron....

I would appreciate any feedback on this I will be going to see my doctor in the next couple of weeks.....

Thanks

I was on meds for the first few months of CPAP, then I worked with my docs and went off them. I don't like to use meds. It took me months to not feel tired, and I felt that the meds gave me a "hangover". But, I would not self adjust any meds. Your doc needs to help you with this. I have just finished my first year with CPAP, and I have had improvement throughout the full year, and my doc told me this would happen.Takes time to heal when you have been so deprived, but slowly regaining health takes time and constant adjustment! But, it certainly is fun to have a path to health!
You didn't mention how long you've been using CPAP. It is not uncommon when you first start out with CPAP to still feel tired. Jeanne's advice above is spot on.
I have been only on my cpap for about a month had some problems once my air levels increased plus allergies....

Thanks for the information......I have something to look forward to now...like you I don't like being on meds...maybe once I get a better grip on using my cpap every night I can ask my doc to help me wean off of the meds....I am still a newbie to cpap usage....

Thanks

Belinda
I am not a physician however I am curious!! Did you start the sleeping medicine before CPAP or after CPAP. If before then you may not need the medicine. Sometimes when you have Sleep Apnea your sleep is very fragmented and often times diagnosed as Insomnia. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is usually worsened with Sleep Medication. I would speak with your physician to see if you should be weaned or can stop the meds. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brad
