I saw my sleep disorder doc and told him that I'm still waking up tired and falling asleep during the day. I also told him that my husband said I still snore. He suggested that I needed my pressures adjusted by 2 points. So now I should be on the lowest setting at 8 and highest at 12. I'm all for the ramp up but the place I got my machine from never told me how to program my pressures. I told him this and he told me I could probably find a how to on youtube. I'm not sure if this is "legal" or what not to mess with the pressure on my own. If it were wouldn't the tech that explained the machine to me have told me how to do this? I have medicaid and I'm not sure if they paid for me to own this or if they are paying for me to rent it. In the case of rentIing the equipment I'm not sure I'm allowed to mess with the pressures. I want to try my machine with the new pressures but I don't know how to do it :/

If your doc said it was ok, it's ok. Do you know how to read the data from the machine? Do you have the software?

I have a ResMed S9 I have no idea how to do anything outside of changing the humidity.

Well, changing your own pressures is a gray area.  Your pressure is a prescription set by your doctor  and we can't recommend that you change the pressure yourself.  My own doc was ok with me having experimented (I was not successful by the way).  So the doctor told you your pressure should be increased, but didn't change it for you?  You can find directions to the setup menu on www.apneaboard.com.   But, like I said, I am not a doctor and though I can tell you where to find directions, and it's your right to change the settings, this is something best done in conjunction with your doc.  If he made the recommendation, you might feel comfortable changing the pressure yourself.  Allways keep your doc in the loop- make him aware of any changes you made.  If you make changes go 1 cm at a time and not more often than weekly, preferably monthly.  But like I said, Anna, it's a gray area and I can't recommend you make changes on your own.  On other forums this practice is prevalent with those with knowledge and experience with the machine, but generally not right in the beginning.  Good luck.  Now there will be people who tell you "don't touch that dial", but it's purely personal and you won't get arrested for changing.  Your doc may not be happy.  The people who gave you the machine can't teach you to change your pressures, and your doc won't either.  This is something we learn by being interested and inquiring.

The only thing needed to change the setting is the word of the doc. I would suggest that you get the software to have a better discussion with him/her about it.

He sent an order to Apria to let them know I need it reset, I was just hoping I could do it on my own. He also ordered the Deluxe chin strap for me. I will be getting nose pillows soon! =D

Hi~  I know we all have different preferences/likes/and success stories.  I have found for myself, that the best chin strap is the PureSom Ruby ADJUSTABLE chin strap.  I have been ordering from Amazon.com.  The only chin strap my DME offered me was a lousy cheap one that did not work at all.

And once you get the software, ResScan is easily re-programable to reveal a number of "Easter eggs", such as changing colors to brighten things up, adding additional parameters such as rate and tidal volume, etc., as seen in this example:
