I put the humifier on my machine every fall. My wife says my machine wakes her up with 7 beeps and then 3 quick beeps. My machine provider says they can not find anything wrong with my machine. Anyone know what is happening?

I had a brand new Respironics BiPAP that drove my husband and me nuts singing that song. I gave it back and got a Resmed SP VPAP Auto. No more noise although once in a blue moon it sings a few notes depending on  the setting. But the Respironics was constantly singing. I found it impossible to get to sleep and stay asleep with that noise in my ear.

Gordon, perhaps the clinical manual available from www.apneaboard.com would tell you what the beeps mean.  Also, have you thoroughly reviewed your users manual?

Mary, I reviewed the user manual first. I took the machine back to the equipment provider yesterday, and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with the machine.

I don't hear the beeping as my hearing aids are out, and the migraine/sleep medicines keep me asleep.

Now hear this - the equipment provider suggested when the noise wakes my wife up, she should get out of bed, walk around to my side, and see if there are any error messages showing! Of course if she does that, who is going to help her get back to sleep?

My wife said that your reply makes her feel better as she is not crazy. See my response to Mary a few seconds ago. Thank you.

I can tell you I had no error messages!

Thanks to Mary Z I just solved my problem. I went to http://www.apneaboard.com/ and downloaded the clinical manual for my Respironics M-Series Bipap machine. I ran a test, and the problem was replicated by deliberately causing my mask to leak. I saw and heard 7 slow beeps and 2 quick ones before the machine turned off. If I then slightly adjusted my mask so that I fixed the leak, the machine went back on automatically.

Therefore, the problem is due to the replacement mask I get every 3 months (free since I am on Medicare). I need to better adjust the straps on the mask, especially since I have lost 10 pounds in the last few months and the shape of my face also may have changed slightly.

Kudos again to Mary Z. Once I had the clinical manual, I was able to turn off the audible alert and allow my wife to sleep through the problems (I was also waking up and adjusting the position of the mask which also helped turn off the alarm).

See my new reply. Thanks for your answers.

I see we're talking about different sounds. My aggravating sounds were a repetitive four note song from a Respironics Pro One.

PS I love being able to get the Clinician's Manuals to solve problems and learn more about what's going on with treatment. :) I have my allotted two already so I'm in trouble if I need another one - which I don't plan on needing any time soon. But really, you'd think the DME/RT could have figured out the beeps without forcing you to look in the manual yourself. Sheesh.
